Volunteer Opportunities
 Visit to San Antonio PD
Lt. Ken Evans and Stan Simpson are in theprocess of coordinating a trip to SanAntonio to tour their Emergency OperationsCenter. This would be a transportationprovided event on the afternoon of Thursday, March 6th, best estimate on timewould be leaving at noon and returning at6PM. Please email Stan atssimpson@round-rock.tx.uswith anyquestions.
Children’s Health Fair
The Alumni will be making Kids ID cards atthe Children’s Health Fair at the UnitedHeritage Center at Dell Diamond onSaturday March 8
th
. Volunteers will beworking from 10 am to 1 pm. Eightmembers are currently signed up toparticipate but more assistance is alwayswelcome.

Our First Social of 2008!
Come join us for our First Social of 2008!We will be making Easter candy bags forPD employees, eating and socializing.The Alumni will furnish sandwiches andthose attending are asked to bring their owndrinks and favorite snack and game for someafter dinner fun.
 
The candy bag stuffing will begin at 5:30pm. The food and socializing will be assoon as the bags are made and distributed.Please sign up on the GoClub and indicatewhat snack you will be bringing.

to our members who havesigned up to attend the TABC Certificationclass and assist with our major fundraiser.
Our major fundraiser of the year is almosthere! We will be working in theTexadelphia concession stand at DellDiamond during six Express games. Wewill be working the following Saturdayevening games:June 14 June 28July 12 July 26August 9 August 16Three volunteers are needed for each gameand all volunteers are required to havecompleted a 3 hour TABC certification classwithin the past 2 years.Game time on these dates is 7:05 p.m. soworkers will need to be at Dell Diamond by5:30 p.m. Workers will normally work until9:30 p.m.Details on attending the TABC class at DellDiamond are available from Mike Gogginvia email atmike_goggin@rrcpaaa.orgor

City Council Meetingto honor our Animal Control Officers.National Animal Control Appreciation week is April 13

through April 19

. This will bethe first year we have honored our ACOs ata City Council meeting.During this week, these hard working anddedicated Animal Control Officers willfinally be honored by having the wholecommunity say, “Thank You” for beingthere and knowing what to do. Our AnimalControl Unit works to enforce laws thatprotect citizens from dangerous animals andthat protect domestic animals from abuseand neglect.

Relay for Life
Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight eventdesigned to celebrate cancer survivorshipand raise money for research and programsof the American Cancer Society.Relay for Life will be held on April 25, 2008at the 9
th
Grade Center football fieldbetween the 9
th
Grade Center and StonyPoint High School. Our contribution toRelay for Life will be assisting Sgt. BobHorton with security for the event. Thelocation change from Dell Diamond willmean with fewer security duties as thesecurity concerns at the school are differentfrom those at Dell Diamond. Alumnimembers will be needed until aroundmidnight – not all night as at past Relays forLife. Since the event is at a school, foodwill probably be allowed on the field, unlikeat the Dell Diamond.The COP car will be used to patrol the NinthGrade Center and Stony Point High School.Sgt. Horton prefers Relay for Lifevolunteers wear either the red shirt or theblue shirt or both – everyone does not haveto wear the same color shirt.Sgt. Horton reports that Relay is still in theplanning stages and he will share additionalinformation as the event plans are finalized.Updates about Relay for Life will beprovided at our monthly meetings, publishedin future editions of
