This fashion awards competition for up and comingfashion designers was established in 2005 and is now anannual event. The Southern Trust iD Dunedin EmergingDesigner Awards is a platform to recognise and rewardthe cutting edge designers of the future. It is designedto develop collaborations and relationships betweennational and international rising designers, and to helppromote designers that will go on to play a significantrole in the fashion industry in the future.If you think you are a designer with a bright future thentake on the challenge and enter the Southern Trust iDDunedin Emerging Designer Awards. There are no designrestrictions, sections or specifications for collections, otherthan an emphasis on innovation, originality, creativity,quality and extension.

Eligibility

To enter the

Southern Trust

iDDunedin Emerging DesignerAwards designers must be recentgraduates (within the past fiveyears) or final year students froma recognised Diploma, BDes, BAor MA Fashion or fashion relatedcourse.In the event that they are one of the chosen finalists, availabilityto travel to New Zealand in theweek of 11 - 15 March 2009 isessential.

The Process

To enter, submit a collection of up to five and no less than threeoutfits in the form of a drawingor photograph of the collection.There are no specifications as tothe season or target market of the collection. Participants arefree to use any fabric/materialthat they choose and no designrestrictions apply.Participants are to include technicaldrawings and descriptions of fabrics used for each of theoutfits entered. This involvesclearly identifying each item thatcomprises the outfit including allshoes and accessories required tocomplete the look.

Women’s standard size 8 – 10

Men’s standard size 102cm chestIf you are chosen as a finalist itis essential that the garmentsthat you bring to Dunedin for judging correspond exactly tothe drawings/photographs youhave entered and these garmentsmust be made by the designersthemselves. Please clearly label allgarments, shoes and accessories.

PrizesPrizes will be allocated for first, second and third place.1
