You know you make some nice points. But the fact still remains. We have guns to protect ourselves from our own government. This all began in out American revolution "Taxation Without representation". It was difficult for Americans to over throw the British because of the lack of guns. This is why we have this right. I am sorry. You all can debate about if reduction is guns really will reduce violence. Personally, I don't believe this to be a fact. If I wanted to kill someone I would. Whether a knife or even a rock. People need to stop worrying about this subject. I mean the Supreme Court of America just said that guns are legal and will not change. Reason is that Americans have a right to property. If the military only had guns what is stopping the government from taking all that we own? Absolutly nothing. The reson that I have seen these "xenophobic" views in America is because the foreigners that come here (every one of them that I know) get FREE health care, FREE education and always think that they are better than me, EVEN IN MY OWN COUNTRY! Well in my opinion, as an American, we need guns. The thing is Phili, what keeps America free? Guns keep America free. If citizens of the greatest country in the world were to have their property taken away ie guns, what is stopping the government from taking more rights away from us? Guns keep America free. Why you might ask? Well because if the citizens didn't like what the government was doing then we would do what needed to be done. The government fears retaliation. But of course if we got rid of our guns we could just, you know, throw rocks and dodge lead objects that travel ~3,000 fps(feet per second). And another thing you live in India. IF YOU DON'T LIKE HOW AMERICA IS RUN GO AWAY! No one cares or wants your opinions just because your jealous because you don't live in the greatest country in the world. Also the only thing you have done by writing this paper was anger many Americans with your stereotypical view of us. I am very open to opinions but when you don't live in this country and you are "glad to live in India" why are you writing about American problems?
