Here's the copy from a Jews for Jesus religious tract using Minnesota humor. Irresistible to this Norwegian Minnesotan philosophical agnostic. Enjoy. And Skol Vikings!

D'Souza Opines; Morem Responds

I respond to a column by political and religious commentator Dinesh D'Souza in which he claims that atheists are atheists because they are in rebellion against God. I survey some religious traditions that don't include belief in a judgmental God or an afterlife. I then survey some surprisingly varied reasons for atheist disbelief. I then describe the origins of my own belief in self-organizi...

My Review of Charles Taylor

This is a review of Charles Taylor's book, "A Secular Age." I deal with the questions raised about how the West grew much less religious and much more secular in the last 500 years.

Lets Do the Time Warp Again Darfur

This is humor with bite. This list is composed of leftist anti-American statements made in opposition to the Iraq War...changed so that "Iraq" is deleted and "Darfur is inserted. I did this to spoof those leftists who really hate our liberation of Iraq while bemoaning our LACK of intervention in Darfur.

Intelligent Design the New Creationism

This work summarizes Intelligent Design ideas both for and against. I conclude that there are serious faults in ID, and affirm my conviction that biological evolution proceeds unaided and unguided by any "designer." I cite several works by creationists and evolutionists.

The End of Certainty Prigogine

This book review of Prigogine's book deals with his work on chaos and complexity theory, time, entropy, and a freely evolving universe. It lies close to the core of my belief in the universe as a Grassroots Creation.

Submissive

The language here is from a flier I wrote for distribution at a counter-demonstration outside a Promise Keepers event.

What Shall We Do

I wrote this rather pointed essay and directed it to liberal secular humanists after the September 11 attacks on our country.

Is Democracy Fair?

I answer this question by setting myself up as a presidential candidate for the Hypothetical Party, illustrating all that goes into a political campaign and why so much money must be raised for such campaigns. I conclude, saying democracy is fair, even though it isn't equal.

Even though logically I'd know it is mirrored on the outside, the windows on the inside make it look like I'd be giving everyone on the street a free show. Thanks for posting this really weird one. :O

Hi psycholex, Modern science has indeed pre-empted all religions' stories about Life, the Universe, and Everything. I believe that almost everything that exists in the universe is the result of self-organizing processes. The small number of exceptions are the result of planning and making by individual human minds and hands.

True, true, oh so very true, Medway. Thanks.

I hope you got my ironic intent. The same America leftists who just hate the fact that we liberated Iraq are now urging us to liberate Darfur. :O I merely used their anti-war statements referring to the Iraq War and replaced the word Iraq with Darfur in each statement. Leftist hypocrisy isn't pretty, but it is readily mocked.

Hi Medway, Some scientists see our universe as a small part of a kind of fractal multiverse that keeps producing new branchings. No beginnings or ends. There is some resemblance to the universal cycles in Hinduism there.
