World War II as viewed by the characters in Ondaatje's novel "The English Patient". The novel is much better than the movie by the way (the movie is like a lion with it's teeth pulled).

Comment on Philosophy and feminism

True enough. I was once a fetus and so was every 'person' that is now alive. When did we become people? Did I become a person at the moment of conception, at the moment of union between sperm and ovum? Or did this happen at some later point while I was growing my mother's womb? Perhaps I was a person before my father's sperm and my mother's ovum joined? Was I two people? Or maybe I was 2 halves of one person?
