Comment on I Am From Punjab, the Land of Five Rivers

Comment on SG KE TOI Building your self confidence
Posted on June 2, 2007
Good, you have handled the transition. I have also gone through bad times, have handled the transition well and I have always remained positive about myself and the people around me I have two sons, one of them employed after his Engineering Degree and the other in Pre University wanting to become a Medical Student I have consciously built up their self confidence, since their childhood and have given them freedom to take decisions on their own. My mantra is very simple 'Create two options for yourself / your life and as a father I'll add the third option' Yet another important point is that I give them absolute freedom for them to do things their way - on HOW part of it, my third option would add to their WHAT part All these add to their self confidence, as life goes on

I would draw similarity with telecom sector, high and faster growth in terms of consumers, combined with lowering of, what in India we call as ARPU - Average Revenue Per User. While the consumers have got reduced tariffs, almost on a continuous basis, the service providers have been able to break even and make good profits, much earlier than planned
Comment on SG KE TOI Re or salaries - IT profit margin shrinks
Posted on May 30, 2007
Indian Rupee, in the recent past has become stronger by about 12% If a leading IT company bills the US customer, for say $ 1 million, the Indian Rupee realizable has COME DOWN BY 12%, while the salaries and other costs [generally computed as % of revenues] remain high / gone up Look at it the other way - appreciating Rupeee means tremendous savings for Importers

Comment on SG KE BBC NEWS Sky's the limit for India flight boom
Posted on May 30, 2007
The story so far has been a win-win deal for the consumers, much as the story in telecom With tremendous growth in volumes, the telecom companies did see break even much earlier than planned I guess the similar story would repeat in airlines as well - and there would surely be consolidation
