"From Shelley to Brooks - Genius of the 'Abby Normal' Kind"

A research paper I wrote, discussing how "Young Frankenstein" is not only a brilliant satire of 1931's "Frankenstein", but ironically more accurate than the original film, in terms of expressing the themes of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel. Written by: Angela P. Cobb

Comment on Why We Can't Find Lasting Happiness
Posted on May 18, 2007

as the wonderful burgess meredith once observed, "contentment is a perishable comodity, that's what makes it so precious". it's true. there's no such thing as a happiness that will last forever...that's why it's HAPPINESS, it's a passing emotion, you've just got to try to hold on to what and who makes you happy the most. ~angela

Comment on 1001 MOVIES you must see before you die(1)

haha..."Young Frankenstein" is the greatest movie ever. I agree with a lot of your other choices as well, particularly "It's A Wonderful Life", "The Wizard of OZ", "Rocky", "Forest Gump", etc. I'd add to that list "Mr. Holland's Opus". ~angela

Comment on Einstein Quotes
Posted on May 11, 2007

yeah it's a great one. i like the fact that einstein was sort of unconventional in that though he was a scientist, he seemed to also put a lot of stock in the unexplainable, the illogical, and the emotional, you know? it's a nice quote. ~angela

Comment on Love vs Infatuation
Posted on May 11, 2007

awww that's pretty cute. but i do agree with what the person said about perspective; i feel every situation is relative and there really is no blanket statement that can be put on everyone to say "this is love, this isn't" etc. i don't feel that people have to be willing to marry someone in order to tell them that they truly love them, or to truly feel love for them. love can exist without marriage. it's all in what makes people happy and works best for them. but it was a very nice post. ~angela
