Centrist, while I agree with many of your points I don't think anyone (or at least not myself) thinks America is the best country for everything. Of course not. There are plenty of things that our country could learn from other countries. However I am tired of people acting like America is a sinking ship or as if it is behind Europeon countries. Any way you slice it Iceland and Scandenavian countries are much easier to govern than the U.S. They are all signifigantly smaller and are (for the most part) filled with people of the same race and religion. This is what makes America truely great. We have just about evry type of person here. Black, white, hispanic, asian, catholic, jewish, protestant, mormon, hindu, athiest...its all here. I wish people would stop complaing that America is so behind and be proud of the diverse, affluent place in which they live freely. If you really feel America is such a bad place then either work hard to make it better or leave. I am just sick of so many fellow Americans and Europeons believing that the U.S. is backwards. This is fucking crap. Whoever wrote this and whoever is involved with this website should be ashamed. First off most of your "truths" weren't true. Secondly, you only handpicked things that we weren't #1 in. What about our #1 GDP? I also find it interesting that you wrote America is #32 in freedom of press? How is that so when you can write this fucking hippie crap you no good piece of shit. You think we can do better? Maybe so but I think we are doing pretty damn good considering we have the 3rd most land and people to govern in the world. Yet somehow we find ourselves with the richest economy (even in a time of near-recession) and most powerful military. You want to know why little Finish kids can read better than U.S. kids? We have millions of people here who can't speak english, we have pot-smoking hippies like you and with a population so much larger than scandenavian countries or other countries like Iceland and South Korea we have much more mentally handicaped and some people who don't give a shit about academics.
