The Historic Landscape Program is creating a web-based landscape management program. This summer the program will focus on inventory and assessment for plants. The web-based program will be tested in the field using a low-cost hand held device and a tablet computer. This will be the first landscape management system.

Currently, graffiti is a growing phenomenon across the nation. We are testing appropriate methods for graffiti removal. We hope to discover the best method or combination of methods to remove graffiti from various masonry surfaces while causing the least amount of damage.

The goal of this project is to understand how and why the burial sites were built. I preserved the traditions associated with them by collecting and documenting the burial practices of African American families of the Cane River Region.This will ensure that this heritage is available for future generations.

After excavation, polymer treatments are applied to archaeological bones to strengthen them.It is difficult to measure how much polymer enters the bone and to determine if the treatment is removable. No existing research answers these questions. We will use a medical process to study the way bones absorb polymer and to find out if it is able to be removed.
