Narrative in Computer Games
Posted on March 28, 2008 |
unlike a book, i find stories to be the least important part of a videogame. a mild resemblance to a plot qualifies as narrative these days. well, at least to be hugely popular and mass marketable. there is a niche market for text adventure/ interactive fiction gamers/appreciators out there but it is still a niche.
of course, there is now a growing acknowledgement for a concept coined as "games as art" which is overthrowing the very idea of games and gaming theory. possibly because fans and advocators of this concept are usually artists themselves and have no idea or clue about what games are in the first place.
