Comment on Anticoagulants and Vitamin K
Posted on December 4, 2007
Tea leaves themselves have a lot of vitamin K, but a cup of brewed tea does not have a significant amount (somewhere between 0.01-0.03 ug per 4 oz). White tea may have more than green tea because of the preparation of the tea preserves nutrients. Further, given that Vitamin K is fat soluble, the bioavailability may not be as great with tea. Soy products do contain vitamin K. One cup of cooked soybeans contains a medium amount (~33 ug) versus a cup of soy milk which contains a small amount(~7.4 ug). The key is to avoid any dramatic shifts in your diet with foods high in Vitamin K.

Almonds do not contain any appreciable amounts of vitamin K.
Comment on Fruits and Vegetables in Season

Bananas are perennial herbs actually and production is year round. They actual "re-plant" themselves and grow below or near the equator which has a consistent temperature. So yes, they are always in season.

Builder, I appreciate your feedback. For references, please see any nutrition text dated back to the 1950s and on. Usually from an editorial point, it is considered common knowledge. My prints are more for information and if the reader wants to find out more, I stress that they research on their own.
