Yoga For Weight Loss? You Must Be Kidding Me!
Posted on February 27, 2008 |
hmm, you have some points, and this is possibly true for some people. however from personal experience, i have to disagree. yoga does not burn as many calories as weight training or aerobics, i agree with that. where it excels is getting you in tune with your body. i remember when i first started, being surprised that it was so hard to stand with one leg in the air, or one arm over my head for half a minute. since most of us sit in chairs or cars all day, we lose touch with our body and our body loses touch with us.
once i started doing yoga as a regular practice, i could tell immediately when i'd put on a little extra weight. the poses would be so much harder and my breathing would increase. you start listening to your body, and for me this went beyond the yoga mat to the dinner table. my body would tell me when to stop eating, and i would listen.
wow, much longer comment that i intended, but i do feel that while you have some valid points, your conclusion is misplaced.
