Taking it further….
In ancient times Self-Realisation was a dim distant goal, which for many seekers was all but impossible to attain, even with the most arduous practice. Now at this time in theWest we are fortunate to be able to experience the power of true Self-Realisation through the gentle touch of SahajaYoga and Kundalini awakening.Instead of being the end of the road, however, Shri Matajistresses that this can be the start of a wonderful journey of discovery, one where we can make amazing use of our newfound power of compassion to improve our environment, relationships and the world at large.
Passing it on
One of the most important features of practicing SahajaYoga is that we can pass it on to others, by giving themSelf-Realisation to help them experience the light of theSpirit. Many people are initially shy of attempting to do this, but infact it is really a very simple process, which involves littlemore than your desire and the ability to recognise the righttime and place. The easiest way, of course, is to invite friends and family toattend one of the regular weekly Sahaja Yoga meetings, butif this is not practicable, it is perfectly fine to give Self-Realisation to them yourself at home or work, and even toconduct your own small workshop to help them feel moreduring the process. To do this all that needs to be done is to raise their Kundalini with your desire and Attention. Sit them down sothat they are comfortable, and get them to close their eyes. This is not mandatory, but it helps to get them to take their Attention inside. Once they are settled, you can raise their Kundalini using your right hand in a flowing movement upthe spine, or do the same by simply using your Attentionrather than any physical actions. Whilst doing this we canask silently inside ‘Mother, please give this person – or name x – their Self-Realisation.’We can then wait a few moments – it usually takes a fewmoments for the process to register properly on their dormant system – and then ask them if they feel anything ontheir hands or coming out of the top of their head.Sometimes the answer will be positive, and in other casesnot. It doesn’t matter, in either case you can either go on toexplain a little more about the system and process or givethem a practical demonstration by working on them as wedo in the weekly meetings.
‘Becoming’ a Sahaja Yogi
True Yoga is not built around organisation or infrastructure, instead it has the Spirit as its foundation. Any authenticYoga is also more than mere religion, it is an individual journey into the nature of Self. This search for self -knowledge is as old as time, and involves no conflict between our religious beliefs and the practice of our meditation. The two must exist in harmony, as both are based around the core ideal of the eternal Soul of man. PureYoga therefore needs no dogma, ritual or external props.By the same token there is no Sahaja Yoga organisationwhich one can ‘join’, in much the same way that one cannot join one’s personality. We evolve into our personality as we pass through life, and in the same way we only truly progress in our Yoga by becoming meditative in all ways – by becoming more peaceful, more balanced, morecompassionate in every part of our day to day lives. In thisway, over time and with patient practice we ‘become’Sahaja Yogis. It is not hard to recognise the clues of this transition towards becoming a true Yogi:a) The whole focus of our life changes - we seek primarilyto nuture our growing relationship with God and the Spirit. b) Material passions gradually drop away, to be replaced bya growing inner peace.c) Our relationship with Shri Mataji deepens on every leveland we begin to recognise her true essence.d) We develop a deep seated desire to help others find thesame wonderful path to the spiritual universe.e) The world becomes a hugely significant place. We beginto experience powerful and meaningful events in our meditation and our life in general.
The art of giving…
If you recognise any combination of the above states in your life, it could indicate that you are ready to step forward andlend a hand at this magical time of en masse enlightenment by helping to give self realisation to others. There is noevangelical or religious fervour involved in spreading themessage of the Spirit, simply a genuine desire to help people find themselves, and by so doing help the worldimprove on a global level.Sahaja Yogi volunteers who run local meetings are alwaysgrateful of any help from practioners of any age and creed. In fact simply attending a local meeting regularly to help inthe workshops and serve refreshments can be a huge sourceof assistance. There is no commitment involved, no dues, noformalities, just a gentle brotherhood of spiritually minded people. And of course the more you give……!
