Definition
Evangelism marketing
is an advancedform of word of mouth marketing(WOMM)in which companies develop customerswho believe so strongly in a particularproduct or service that they freely try toconvince others to buy and use it. Thecustomers become voluntary advocates,actively spreading the word on behalf of the company.
Evangelism literally comes from the threewords of 'bringing good news' and themarketing term justly draws from thereligious sense, as consumers are literallydriven by their beliefs in a product orservice, which they preach in an attemptto convert others.
 
History
Guy Kawasaki, the former chief evangelist of Apple Computer, isknown as the Father of evangelismmarketing. In his books “The Art of the Start" and "How to Drive YourCompetition Crazy” Kawasakistates that the driving force behindevangelism marketing is the factthat individuals simply want tomake the world a better place.
