UNITED EFFORT NEEDED FOR TYPHOON ONDOY VICTIMS
San Francisco, 30 September 2009 – Philippine Consul General to SanFrancisco Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. met last night with the leaders of the Bay AreaFilipino American community to come up with a coordinated strategy in the relief effort for Typhoon Ondoy victims.The meeting was organized by thePhilippine Consulate General together with National Federation of FilipinoAmerican Associations (NaFFAA).Consul General Paynor, Jr. saidthat the Bay Area Filipino Americancommunity should organize themselves inorder to maximize the relief drive beingplanned for the families affected by therecent storm and floods in the Philippines.“Since such calamities have beenrecurring in the Philippines, it is necessaryfor our community in San Francisco and theBay Area to create an organization that willcoordinate relief efforts during times of crisis and natural disasters,” he said.In support of this proposedorganization, Consul General Paynor, Jr.committed the Philippine ConsulateGeneral to serve as its secretariat andreserved several rooms at the PhilippineCenter where the members can meet on aregular basis.“The personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco areready to help our community in coordinating efforts for the relief drive.
