years ago a young couple
were planning their wedding. The bride asked. “Shall I promise to obey you?” The groom answered, “No. The Bible says we are submit to one another.”
And my parents, Howard and Winifred Elliott, have been doing just that ever since. They showedme oneness through servanthood. This book is dedicated to them....And to my husband who has always loved me as Christ loved the church, giving himself up for me. It is with and through Ron that I have lived oneness through servanthood. Hisliberation in Christ has become my liberation.And to that host of believers from throughout all of history, past, present and future, thebody and bride of Jesus, of whom I am a member, with whom I am one.And to the tiny member of that one great body where I was born and bred, trained andtaught, nurtured and molded, challenged and sharpened, supported and loved, the community of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America.And above all to my maker, redeemer and Lord who has recreated me to be, along with thechurch, one with him, Jesus Christ, our triune God.
