Intent note

The ambition is to realize a great epic and romantic movie through this story inspired from someone who did exist. A breathtaking “French western” which draws the portrait of Corsican character in a heroic and exciting context.

Indeed, since a very a long time now, the Corsican mentality
fully exists and detached itself from others. It is defined by
criteria such as honour, independence, insubordination,
touchiness, and heightened grudge.
This peculiar story allows dealing with all these different
themes, and gives the possibility of depicting the Corsican
identity through a historical and romantic movie that aims at
being a film with mass appeal.

To make a great movie, we need to offer to all kind of public
a movie that would be pleasant to see, with a rhythm and
sudden new developments, but also with a real cultural
interest, concerning History itself as well as the psychology
of the different characters.

The different movies we used as points of reference concerning the use of narration, the voice
over, the music, or the development of the different characters are “Dance with wolves”,
“Barry Lindon”, “Days of Heaven” or more recently, “The assassination of Jesse James by
The Coward Robert Ford”. I am interested in a cinema that moves us, that makes us
travelling, that takes us away from daily life.

The film sets are extremely important and they
can be considered as one of the main characters
of the movie. The majesty and richness of the
Corsican landscapes shall take an extraordinary
dimension, the same dimension that Africa
took in “Out of Africa”, or the Amazonian
forest in “Mission”, or the desert in “Lawrence

of Arabia”.

This movie possesses enough assets to be a
success: the scenario contains many new
developments, exceptional sceneries, intense
feelings, and historical context. It sheds a light
on the specificities of the Corsican character
that are still relevant today.
