Unity
.Can we a have a world with nothing but peace and prosperity? Can everyone ,regardless of race, color, religion, sects, factions ,beliefs come together to live in harmony and peace? Can everyonehave a dignified and safe life? Can everyone forget their differences and work towards one commongoal? ------ honestly I don't know. But certainly I wish it happens like a miracle. We believe in Christchanging water to wine, we believe in the story of an Indian god named Hanuman lift mountain to save agroup of people from violent rain, we believe in Christmas miracles, then why can't we believe in themiracle that iam talking about. In India , there's a slogan “ Unity in diversity”. I was always amazed by that slogan. I wonder how primitive mankind divided among themselves. May be they had different colored Wheels, different beardsizes. I don't where iam going with this, but I know this though, at some point in the development of human civilization we humans developed culture and tradition and henceforth ironically sections andfactions. Think about this. A religion asks its believers to respect god and each other at the same time. No religion defames any other religion. May be thats a sign for us to understand that we must find unity by respecting the values of our differences, by accepting the fact that the differences among people is away of life. Harmony comes in to play not only by being faithful to your beliefs but also respectingeveryone else's beliefs. That's what harmony is, that's what dignified living is.Lets look at the world that is unraveling before us. Its a mature world, with people understanding theglobal issues and problems. Its a world filled with young minds coming together to take on serious tasks. Its a world which judges a man not with the color of his skin but based on his virtue and character. Its aworld where true accomplishments through hard work and diligence never goes unnoticed. During hisinauguration speech when Obama said “lets carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea passed onfrom generation to generation, with god given promise , all are equal , all are free and all deserves achance to pursue their full measure of happiness”, people not just in America but all over the world weremoved.Be it religion, be it color, be it individual beliefs, the variety that we see in them are not weakness butthey are the true strength of this world. The courage and tenacity to find peace and common groundwithin those differences , what creates high values. Values are not god made, they are man made. Wecreate values, we honor and we cherish them .We should never give them up for expedience sake.I would like to share one of my life experiences that left a great impact in me. It was a summer afternoon, hot and sultry. I went to a nearby park with my guitar to plug up my tunes for a new song that I waswriting. I was alone in the park for almost an hour. Then suddenly I heard cars stopping by the park. Isaw a group of a young Hispanic Family – Dad, Mom and two beautiful kids came running to the park with football. Within a couple of minutes I saw an Indian family came to the park with lunch packed, later I saw a Caucasian family, Afro American family and Asian family stepped into the park. They all startedto share food among themselves, their kids started to play ball with each other, wives started sharing foodwith each others family members. As this was happening , I was walking in the garden with my guitar. Atsome point, I realized that I walked down the hill in the park, but I was able to see the magnificence of the wide , green, grassy park filled with People. I didn't see an Asian family or Afro American Family or Indian family or Caucasian family, All I saw were American families. I realized how beautiful America is. I realized one thing, its not the might of America's arms or the scale of its wealth , but it's the enduringspirit, and high moral values to coexist happily among varied races, what makes this country beautifuland strong.
