Entries (RSS) Comments (RSS) Googleis the most popular search engineon the net.An interesting exercise is to put in yourown name into the search box (it’s calledGoogling!) and see what comes up! I did!And found out I was the third mostTwitterholicin Hull…Hmm! Not sure whatthat is all about!?However, far more interesting was to Google the word ‘Hedon’. It came up with thefollowing interesting results (Mon 6th April):Hedon Against GM - The Campaign Websitewas tops. This was a campaign to oppose thegrowing of genetically modified potatos in the fields around the town in 2007. The latestcampaign news was from 2007 so I am not sure if the campaign is still active. If you haveany information please let the Hedon Blog know.HEDON The Household Energy Networkwas second. This is a London based internationalvoluntary organisation campaigning for a cleaner, affordable and more efficient householdenergy sector.Third was the Wikipedia entry forHedonismwhich - as the article describes in some detail -is the philosophy that argues that the persuit of pleasure is humanity’s greatest goal.‘Hedonism’ has been a problem for the Hedon Blog - I’m sure some visitors to this site areseeking the ultimate pleasure! ….And I’m sure they found it!? One organisation that links tothis site has added a repectable N and so links to The Hendon Blog…. Thanks guys and gals! The Hedon Wikipedia entry is next which I’ve covered in an earlier Blog PostHedon onWikipedia. And fifth is the Town Council site linked to in my public information links in the side bar.Hedon is also an auditorium for pop concerts in Holland near the town of Zwolle. And ‘Hedon Cries’ is a Greek heavy metal band which plays very scary music! So…if you’ve not done it already….Get Googling! The consultation is now underway on theEast Riding Council’s proposed carparking charges and measures. The firstconsultation session took place lastThursday 2nd April in Beverley with thenext scheduled for Driffield on Tuesday7th April. The ‘roadshow’ for Hedonresidents takes place at SouthHolderness School on Thursday 14thMay. Residents can drop-in at any timebetween 4:30pm and 7:00pm.The facts and opinions are being placedin front of residents in many ways. TheEast Riding News delivered to all EastRiding households contains a centre-page spread entitled
“Creating a fairer car park charging system”
; the council’s websitecurrently has the issue highlighted on itshome pageand anonline consultation formis available to complete and submit. The Hull Daily Mail continued its “Park the Charges” campaign by handing over a dossier of information to the East Riding Council as reported inMail hands over Park The Chargesdossier. No decisions have yet been taken on the proposals and the Council has pledged that allconsultation responses will be carefully considered. The final decisions will be a matter forthe Full Council after consideration and recommendations by the overview managementcommittee and the cabinet.Screenshot ERYC Website

The Hull Daily Mail recently (Jan 2009) featured four watercolour paintings of Hedon byDavid Work. I’ve included a snip of my favourite here. The four delightful pictures provide a back drop for a narrative about Hedon’s history. Viewthe article atDavid Work’s paintings of Hedon.-
