Welcome news.ycombinator readers!

Every programmer we've hired has been through Y-Combinator. We all did our own startups before joining Scribd.
What would happen if a whole bunch of YC hackers got together to start a company? Scribd is going to find out.

This is an invitation for hackers who love startups to join the team at Scribd. Scribd is a tiny and fast-growing startup, so people who join now will have a huge impact on the company. We're not looking for employees; we're looking for more entrepreneurs who want to join us as partners. If you tried your own startup, you're probably the right kind of person.

Things we care about are creativity, passion, incredible technical ability, and a drive to build interesting things. We like people who are creative enough to have built cool things on their own, and ambitious enough to want to do a startup.

If you join Scribd now, you'll have the real startup experience: you'll design the product (not only implement it) and work in a tiny group that accomplishes big things. You'll also get a significant equity stake now and a management role later on (if we succeed). At the same time, Scribd has raised money from top-tier venture capitalists, so you won't have to live on Ramen; in addition to your equity you will get a full-time salary, health insurance, and free food.

Scribd was formed with the mission of creating the world's largest free and open library of documents. Our goal is to unlock all the information in documents on people's hard drives and put it on the Web. Scribd was formed by the merger of two YC companies from the summer of 2006. Scribd launched in March 2007 and was immediately very popular. We have an office in beautiful San Francisco and most of us still live in the Y-Scraper, the apartment building with about 15 YC startups in it.

If you are interested in working at Scribd, please send a resume to hackers@scribd.com.
