Sunbelt Publications is an award-winning small press and national distributor. Begun in 1978 by authors Diana and Lowell Lindsay--to distribute books they had written, including Anza-Borrego Desert Region and Diana’s Our Historic Desert--the idea was to become distributors whose publishing program could then feed into their own distribution system. The logo, based on the Zia sun symbol, represented the Southwestern or "Sunbelt" states that the company would feature in the guidebooks and natural history field guides it distributed. Starting in 1984, Diana operated the business out of a garage and her trusty VW Vanagon; the Publishing Division of Sunbelt was formally founded in 1993 with Lowell as CEO. In January of 1995 the company moved into a 22,000 square foot building in El Cajon, California, which is where you’ll find them today and tomorrow.see more
