Awesome. This is a simple as it gets. Very well written (as always). Everything you have written is something I have wanted to shout at a client or potential client at some time. I really get annoyed when a client appears to have full confidence in me, hires me (I take my fee & beging working my butt off) next thing I know they are like pod people, wanting up to the minute updates "No, Mr. Client, I still do not have anything new to share with you. I understand you are anxious, but really we have to give it some time. Surely you can see that I could not possibly have heard from the Judge and the DA, not since I last talked to you on Friday night at 8:oo p.m. I see, uh huh uh huh, yes sir, well Mr. Client it is still early it is only 8 :09 a.m on Monday. Lets give this at least until Court opens for the day" I know of my ethical and my moral obligation to keep my clients advised of all activity in the case, but what do you do with "hand holder" you know the clients who want their hand held, they call & try to become BFF's f4ver with your 18 your old receptionist, they tell other clients that they are "like family" as they sashay right past my little shy receptionist, mouthing something like" oh no need to buzz her, it's just me, I'll just be a minute" I love that you start this with "END RESULTS" I have started giving this particiliar breed of clients my "end results speech" I go through the reasons they hired me and how they trusted their instincts and did their homewordk. I then tell them the car repair story. : mr. client suppose I need my transmision replaced and i take my new car to your shop becuuse you are the best mechanic around. i checked your credintials and your references and i got grea tfeedback from all your other customers. i chose you. right? why? because I decided you were the best man for the job, and after interviewing you and five others i chose you. Now I do not know one darn thing about cars. but you do, it is your field of expertise. Now am I going to help you at all to fix my car if I come to your garage every morning and stand over your shoulder and watch you , question you. and then when i am not in your garage, i am taking you away from my car to pick up my telephone call so i can ask you if there is anything new on my car's condition since the last hour" No I am not helping you am I? at this point they usually begin to chuckle and nod their head. I have had quite a few even say things like "Hell no you are not helping me you are only annoying me if you are standing over me. " Then it is like the lightulb goes on. Thanks again for the entertaining and informative read Melissa Sugar Sugarlawfirm.com
