GEEKS ON ICE RULES & REGULATIONS
The Geeks o
n Ice Tournament (“Tournament”)
will apply NBAHA rules and regulations. In addition, Geekson Ice would like to place emphasis on the following additions and/or modifications:
 
TEAM ROSTERS AND PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
 1.
 
All players must complete and sign the ‘
GEEKS ON ICE Liability and Release Form
prior to anygame play.
 2.
 
All players must be a minimum 18 years of age to qualify for league registration.
 3.
 
Any player may be permitted to play for multiple teams and multiple divisions.
 4.
 
Any player that is not added to your team roster by April 16
th
will be ineligible to play in thetournament.
No exceptions
.
 
DIVISIONAL ALIGNMENT AND SCHEDULE
1.
 
8 teams; 2 Divisions

5 on 5
3.
 
Each team plays 3 round robin games within their division. Each team is guaranteed a minimumof three games.
 4.
 
Based on points, the top team from each division advances to the Day of Champions on SundayApril 25th, 2010
 5.
 
Teams are to check in no less than sixty minutes before the scheduled start of their first gameand at least forty-five minutes before the start of all remaining games. Teams should be ready toplay fifteen minutes before the start of the scheduled game if requested to do so by thetournament committee.
6.
 
Home team designation will be identified by the official Tournament schedule.
7.
 
Seeding of teams will be determined by the Tournament Committee and may be based on, butnot exclusive to, average level of skill per player, per team, and final standings in previous Geekson Ice Tournaments, if applicable.
 
EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS
 1.
 
All participating members of the Tournament are required to wear full equipment (i.e. CSAapproved helmet with facial protection (i.e. cage and/or visor) and strap, shin pads, elbow pads,etc.) while on the ice.
 2.
 
All teams are required to have matching Dark (Home) and White (Away) uniform sets includingsocks.
 3.
 
All players are required to wear a plain numbered jersey consistent in color with the base color
of their team’s jersey.
 4.
 
Team representatives must ensure that all players’ name and number are clearly recorded on the
game sheet.
 5.
 
Special arrangements may be made between team representatives and Tournament Committeeto allow their team to play with one uniform set in their inaugural Tournament. With only oneset of uniforms the Tournament Committee may be able to provide a loaner set of jerseys basedon availability, if not you must find your own.
 6.
 
Teams will be responsible for their own water bottles
7.
 
Teams will be responsible for their own warm up pucks
 
 
 
FACILITIES
 1.
 
Teams have a 30 minute time limit for their dressing room after their game (Won’t be enforced
by committee)
2.
 
Under NO circumstances is outside alcohol permitted in the dressing rooms.
3.
 
If any team is in violat
ion of the City of Dieppe’s outside beverage policy
, the facility has the rightto ban your team from further competition and the Tournament Committee will not reimburseyour registration fee.
4.
 
If an event or facility official deems a participant is too intoxicated to play, the player will besuspended from further participation in the Tournament.
 
CONTACT
 1.
 
Body checking is prohibited.
 2.
 
Incidental contact may or may not result in a penalty based upon the discretion of the on-iceofficials.
 
FIGHTING AND/OR THE ABUSE OF OFFICIALS
 1.
 
Fighting is prohibited.
2.
 
A fighting offense will result in
a suspension for the remainder of the current year’s Tournament
and may result in permanent expulsion from the Tournament..
 3.
 
Any player dropping their gloves in an attempt to fight will receive a 5-minute major fightingpenalty.
 4.
 
Any player who leaves the p
layers’ bench in the midst of an altercation will suspended for the
next consecutive game and will be placed on probation for the remainder of the Tournament.
 5.
 
Verbal abuse of any official will result in the assessment of a 10-minute misconduct penaltybased upon the discretion of the on-ice officials.
 6.
 
Physical abuse of any official will result in permanent expulsion from the Tournament.
 7.
 
Any player who has been ejected from a game will accumulate 10 minutes towards their totalindividual player penalty minutes, which will be regarded in the accumulation of the individualplayer penalty minute threshold/maximum as well as the team accumulation for that game.
 
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER PENALTY ACCUMULATION
 1.
 
Individual players may not accumulate greater than three stick infraction penalties per game. Afourth stick infraction penalty by the same player will result in ejection from the game. (Opposingteams are responsible to alert the official that the player has had four stick infractions)
 2.
 
Individual players may not receive more than one-ten minute misconduct penalty per game. Asecond misconduct penalty in the same game will result in ejection from that game. Should thesame player a total of three ten minute misconduct penalties throughout the tournament, theplayer will be suspended from further play.
 
MAJOR PENALTIES AND EJECTIONS
 1.
 
Any player who incurs a single 5-minute major penalty will be ejected from the game and will besuspended for a minimum of one game.
 2.
 
Any player who incurs a second 5-minute major penalty may be suspended for the remainder of the Tournament.
 
 
 
3.
 
Any player who has been ejected from a game must leave the ice and/or bench/penalty boximmediately, after which any remaining penalty time for the offending player is to be served byanother teammate that was on the ice at the time of the offense.
 
GOALTENDERS
 1.
 
All teams are required to have a goaltender present and on the ice at the beginning of eachgame. Game play will not commence until designated goaltender, wearing regulation certifiedgoaltender equipment has been dressed.
 2.
 
If a team’s goaltender is not present at the scheduled game start
time, that team will be alloweda 5-minute grace period.
3.
 
In the event that a goaltender does not come on to the ice until after the allotted 5-minutewarm-up has expired no further warm-up will be permitted.
 4.
 
Goaltenders shall be permitted to wear ‘Cat
-Ey
e’ type goaltender masks. By doing so, they
assume all risk inherent therein and agree to take full responsibility for any injury or harm causedto themselves while wearing such equipment. In addition they must agree to waive any liabilitywhatsoever from the Tournament Committee.
 5.
 
Goaltenders are encouraged, but not required, to wear a team jersey consistent with that of their teammates.
 
GAME PLAY (EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES)
 1.
 
Slap Shots
, where the stick starts above the waist, are not allowed. Referees will immediatelyblow the whistle to stop the play; and a face-
off will be taken in the offending team’s zone.
 2.
 
Each round robin game will have a 50-minute curfew this includes the warm-up. The exception tothis would be in the case of a game stoppage due to unusual circumstances.
3.
 
The three-five minute warm up will start immediately after the Ice Resurfacer doors have closed(Discretion of Officials).
4.
 
Each game will consist of two 15-minute periods of stop time.
5.
 
If there is a seven goal difference the game will be running time. If the losing team scores, thetimekeeper will return to stop time and continue unless the goal spread becomes seven again.
6.
 
The last five minutes of the second period will be
running time
when there is a five-goaldifference. If the losing team scores, the timekeeper will return to stop time and continue unlessthe goal spread becomes five again.
 7.
 
In Round Robin games points will be awarded as follows:
i.
 
Two (2) points for a win
 ii.
 
One (1) point for a tie
 iii.
 
Zero (0) points for a loss
8.
 
Division Champions: To advance to the Championship game, in the event of a tie
after
the RoundRobin games, the following rules will apply:
i.
 
Team that has the official win over the tying team. If still tied,
 ii.
 
Team with the least goals against advances. If still tied,
 iii.
 
Team with the best goals for/goals against differential advances. If still tied,
 iv.
 
Coin toss, Winner of toss advances.
 9.
 
If time permits, overtime will be played in the Championship Game if the game is tied at the endof regulation time.
 10.
 
Each team will be allowed ONLY one 30-second time out during the Championship game.
11.
 
Overtime will consist of one 5 minute sudden death period with teams playing four on four. If theteams remain tied or if time does not permit overtime, shoot- outs will be used to determine thewinner.
