Regenerating Vauxhall Cross
Thank you for visiting Kylun Limited’spublic exhibition for the Vauxhall CrossIsland site.Kylun Limited is a development vehicle, with énancial backing from the privateinterests of the Chief Executive of Fal OilCompany. It acquired the strategically-located Vauxhall Cross Island site(Vauxhall Island site) in 2009.This public exhibition sets outKylun’s vision to create a new heartfor Vauxhall and enhance the areaaround the bus, Underground and railstations, signiécantly improving thelocal environment. It also reêectsthe culmination of over four yearsof consultation on how developmentat Vauxhall Cross can bring tangiblebeneéts to the local community. The Vauxhall Island site was subjectto a previous planning application byLondon & Regional Properties (L&R)in 2005, however L&R was unable toprogress its plans. The latest proposals are for an elegantmixed-use tower development ofthe highest architectural qualitywith new public realm and space forlocal businesses, shops and the localcommunity. The design, by award-winning architects Squire & Partners, aims to incorporate aspects of theprevious scheme that were receivedpositively in 2005 while reêecting andresponding to the issues raised duringthis latest round of public consultation,as well as local planning guidance.

 A backgroundto the site
The Vauxhall Island site, a triangle of land located adjacent to Vauxhall’stransport interchange, has long been neglected and derelict, but holdssigniécant potential for redevelopment. The site lies within the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, whichis identiéed in the London Plan as having the potential to accommodatehigh-density development to provide substantial numbers of new jobs andhomes. Both the London Borough of Lambeth and the Greater LondonAuthority (GLA) consider the site to have the potential to make an importantcontribution to the regeneration of the area and to deliver signiécant beneétsto the communities living in Vauxhall. We would like to hear your views on our proposals so that they can beconsidered by our design team before a planning application is submitted.
