IRS: S 86-2000 with Amd 3
Note 1) : The nominal voltage of a lead acid secondary cell will be taken as 2.0 volts andnominal output voltage of the charger will be calculated accordingly. Theoutput current rating of the battery charger may be calculated by adding thetotal equipment load to be supplied by the charger and one tenth of the AHcapacity of the batteries which are to be kept on float charge by the batterycharger.Recommended capacity of chargers for some of the standard capacity secondarycells in use on Railways are given below:
S.NoCell Cap(Amps. Hrs)C/10 RateRecommendedcurrent ratingcharger (Amps)Max. permissibleload (Amps).

Special requirements, if any, shall be specified by the purchaser.1.5The charger of 12, 24, 60 & 110 volts output shall have a provision for chargingnumber of cells as mentioned below:

126,7,82412,13,146030,31,3211055, 56, 57LED Indication shall be provided for indication of number of cell selected.1.6One set of spare control card shall be supplied along with each battery charger and shall be kept inside the charger at conspicuous position to avoid any kind of damage.
2.TERMINOLOGY
For the purpose of this specification, the terminology given in IRS:S 23 shall apply.
3.CONSTRUCTION
3.1The chargers shall conform to drawings, dimensions and layout, if any, specifiedby the purchaser.3.1.2All cable entry holes should be provided with rubber grommets.
