How to Gain Confidence
Confidence can be explained as the feeling that you are able to dowhatever task you are given in an assured manner. You askyourself, “Can I do it?” and your answer should be, “Yes I can”.Feeling confident means you are sure of your skills and ability tosucceed in a task. It is an internal determination or judgment of hoe sure you are of your skills. Lack of confidence means youaren’t sure that you can complete an activity successfully. Your confidence in being able to do something is based on yourtrack record of succeeding in various similar tasks. The feeling of self-confidence is learned and can be passed from one task toanother.Questions about confidence that you may have are:

Why people aren’t confident?
A person obtains confidence by successfully doing something orcompleting a task and acknowledging that achievement. Theinternal acknowledgement is recorded in the mind as, “I can dothis again”
Success not acknowledged
One reason people aren’t confident after successfully completinga task or achieving a difficult goal is because they don’tacknowledge their achievement and may even demean what theyhave done. They put their achievement down by sayingsomething like, “Oh, I was just lucky” or “It wasn’t all that good.”
 
Too large a task 
Another reason some people aren’t confident is because they lookat a task or a goal as a large entity. Success or failure isdetermined by the outcome of a task which may not becompleted until days or sometimes months of tolling.
Too difficult a task 
Some people purposely take on tasks that are too difficult forthem and as such are assure of failure. They do this to re-enforcetheir perceived lack of self-confidence. There is some strangepsychology involved in this situation.

The way to gain confidence is to:1.Break tasks into smaller steps
Before you set out to perform a task or try to achieve a goalyou must realize that the activity is really a series of similarsteps. This is a basic concept in any type of project panning. Thus, instead of waiting until the end to determine if you atesuccessful, you have a series of successes, leading up to thefinish.
2.Acknowledge success for each steps
For each one of these steps or mini-tasks, you mustacknowledge your success. Congratulate yourself each timeyou succeed. If you don’t do well correct your errors. Takecare about admonishing yourself except in extreme cases.
3.Re-enforce overall confidence
 This self-talk will re-enforce your acknowledge of yourabilities and increase your confidence as you work towardsachieving a greater goal.

 The desire to be more confident is often one of the keys aims of people seeking to improve their performance, either socially orprofessionally. Lack of confidence is not restricted to certainstereotypical types of people and you are not alone with yourconfidence issues.
