Parking Lot Sale
Easter week activitieslead to grand celebration
Palm Sunday, April 5

―It’s All About the Entrance‖
sermon by the Rev. John Farley, Scripture: Mark 11:1-11
What does it mean to let Jesus ―enter your life?‖ How
does Jesus enter? What happens when he does enter?Come on Palm Sunday and get a new perspective on
Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem and what it
says about letting him enter our lives.
Passion Concert
, Thursday, April 9, 7:00 p.m.The Chancel Choir will perform
―Tenebrae—A Service of Darkness‖
by Hal H. Hopson, accompanied bystrings, oboe and organ. The serviceof Tenebrae follows a tradition of thechurch dating back to the eighth cen-tury. From Latin, the word Tenebrae
means ―darkness‖ and commemo-rates the final hours of our Lord’s life
on earth, as he suffered death uponthe cross. As the candles are extinguished, they symbolizethe fading loyalty of the disciples and friends of Jesus. Thegradual darkening of the church portrays the diminishinglight of the world as Christ was departing from it.
Good Friday
,
April 10, 6:00 p.m
. Early Christian MealFoothills brings back the dramatic portrayal of the dis-ciples and friends of Jesus as they confront their loss atthe dinner hosted by Joseph of Arimathea.
Easter, April 12
―Resurrection III: ASequel‖ sermon by the Rev. John Farley
Scripture: Mark 16:1-8What is the REAL story of the resur-rection? Who has the RIGHT ending?Maybe looking for the right ending is thewrong approach. Perhaps it is the right
beginning
we should all be seeking. On Easter Sunday, we celebrate thevictory of life over death by covering the empty cross with
glorious spring flowers
. We are honoring the sacrificeand death which Jesus Christ suffered for us. He gave usthe gift of eternal life when he conquered death on Easter Sunday. Celebrate with us by bringing home-grown or pur-chased flowers to the patio before each service on Easter.

Foothills United Methodist Church
―So Christ having been
offered once to bear the sinsof many, will appear a secondtime, not to deal with sin but
tosave those who are eagerly
waiting for him.”

Hebrews 9:28NRSV

What are you waiting for? Iwould venture many of youwould answer that you are
―waiting for the economy to hit bottom.‖ Unlike the
scripture above, this is not something for which mostof us are
“eagerly waiting.”
The point is; the future for which you are waitingeffects the present in which you live. Those waiting tohit bottom are closing up and bracing themselves for
negative impact. But, those who are ―
eagerly wait-
ing”
the turn around and new life that follows areopening up to new ideas of how they can make apositive impact.Resurrection people never get caught in theempty tomb syndrome; the fear that all we had in-vested in is empty, dead, and gone. We know that
―the sufferings of this present time are not worth com-paring with the glory about to be revealed to us.‖
Ro-mans 8:18.
Christians are people of the future, God’s
future and that means new life and transforminghope. When your future is a promise, your present isa blessing. So what are you waiting for? It is up to you to de-cide. You can be waiting for the worst and living indread or you can be eagerly awaiting what God willdo in the future and start looking for the signs of res-urrection and life every day. That is the promise for which we prepare as Easter comes. It is a promisethat loss is temporary. God is always preparing asaving act, a restoring story. If you are having trouble waiting with eager antici-pation for tomorrow, you need to get back to church
and get back in touch with God’s living, giving Spirit. The future is filled with God’s new ideas for life and
creation. We can trust this truth and, in so doing, liveeach day as a blessing not a burden. In the Spirit,John Farley

Summer camp is going to be a super awesome timewith the theme being Marvel (Superheroes)! Registrationforms are now available online at calpaccamps.org/. Click
on ―programs‖ and you can see the brochure along with
the registration form. Many youth have gone to camp and come home withlife-changing experiences. Adults who have volunteeredas counselors whole-heartedly recommend anyone andOur Youth Mission Team is offering work crews for any and every type of work you can imagine. I have beenfortunate enough to have hired their services for two sepa-rate Saturdays and want to let everyone know how fantas-tic they are!On one Saturday, I had approximately 13 youth over to my home; they power washed my house (in anticipationof painting some trim on a later date), rented a log splitter and brought it to my home to split approximately two cordsof firewood from logs I had on my property, split andstacked the firewood, repaired a "crib" to hold the fire-wood, and washed every window in my house, inside andout (and I have a LOT of windows). Their price was ex-tremely reasonable, especially considering the cost of therented log splitter, and their work was meticulous.Last weekend, I had about 17 youth at my house whopainted cabinets, painted and re-covered some old diningchairs to look fresh and new, emptied and cleaned out mygarage, cleaned a desk and credenza that were in the ga-rage and took photos for me to sell on eBay, re-organizedthe items I decided to keep in the garage, and packed mycar with the unwanted items for donation. Now, I can actu-ally park two cars in the two-car garage for the first time in5 years! They also stripped the wallpaper in one of mybathrooms and scraped the old glue off of the walls (whichtook a steamer and all day for three of the youth).I supplied lunch and drinks both days, and was privi-leged to join the group in prayer for their continued suc-cess in mission. Each day the youth arrived on time (and afew even arrived early), and displayed a good work ethicas well as pride in a job well done. I would recommendhiring the Youth Mission Team to anyone that needs any-thing done around their home or business. They are al-ways supervised by at least one adult for any work. Theyare polite and respectful, and are very happy to have theopportunity to work and earn their own funds for their Mis-sion Trip to Robeson, North Carolina. I give my highestrecommendation to Anthony Aronico, Rev. Christian De-ment, and all of the adult and youth volunteers for their hard work and enthusiasm in giving back to our communityand to those in need.everyone who is able to go to camp to attend. The dates for the summer camps are:
