My professional background includes experiencewith various multilateral and bilateral donors and international development institutions—includingthe United Nations—and in various capacities, including research, training, module development, capacity building, and evaluation. I have worked in different settings—with government agencies,community-based groups, NGOs, academicinstitutions, the media and in the legislative arena. I am a member of the internationally-based  Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) and the Gender Resource Network (GRN),a national network of gender advocates and consultants. I currently sit as the vice-chairpersonof the Board of Trustees of ISIS International- Manila. I do volunteer work for several local/national organizations working ongovernance issues, legislative advocacy/legal reforms, sex trafficking and women’s rights, peaceand security issues, among others. I am theCountry Coordinator of the Philippine Women’s Network on Peace & Security, which is affiliated with the international network of Women for Genuine Security. I have been a women’srights/gender advocate since the early 1980s inthe Philippines. As a co-founder of the legislative network of civil society organizations and women’s groups called  SIBOL or Sama-Samang Inisyatiba para sa Pagbabago ng Batas at Lipunan (Collective Initiatives for Transforming Law and Society), I had been an active participant of the core groupthat drafted and lobbied for the passage of laws onrape, violence against women, and anti-trafficking. I have served as a Training Consultant on Gender and Development Mainstreaming to the following Philippine government institutions: the Department of Finance (DoF), the Department of  Labor and Employment (DOLE), the OverseasWorkers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), the National Commission onthe Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the National Transmission Corporation (TransCo),the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Technical Education and Skills Development  Authority (TESDA), among others.
