Welcome to the 2010 summer issue of Property South West - thedefinitive guide for building and home improvement. With summerin full swing and the recession officially over (or so we’re told),things are on the up again with a marked growth in buying and newdevelopment in particular.In a recent report from the Nationwide, figures reveal that thesouthwest of England has enjoyed the largest increase in propertyprices compared to other areas in the UK. Data from the buildingsociety showed that across the country the average residentialproperty has gone up in value by 9.5 percent in the last 12 monthsand by 1.9 per cent in the second quarter. The strong performanceof the south-west in the Nationwide figures is in strong contrastwith the Land Registry statistics for May which reveal a 0.2 percent drop in house prices.
