Welcome to the 2010 summer issue of Property South West - thedefinitive guide for building and home improvement. With summerin full swing and the recession officially over (or so we’re told),things are on the up again with a marked growth in buying and newdevelopment in particular. In a recent report from the Nationwide, figures reveal that thesouthwest of England has enjoyed the largest increase in propertyprices compared to other areas in the UK. Data from the buildingsociety showed that across the country the average residentialproperty has gone up in value by 9.5 percent in the last 12 monthsand by 1.9 per cent in the second quarter. The strong performanceof the south-west in the Nationwide figures is in strong contrastwith the Land Registry statistics for May which reveal a 0.2 percent drop in house prices. With a plethora of dynamic new projectshaving been given the green light, there’s a real buzz in the air andwe predict that this is just the start of better days to come.As always at Property Southwest our pledge is to keep you up todate with the very latest news – be it good or not so good. There hasnever been a better time for optimism and it’s my sincere wish thatwe’ve once again managed to remain as up to the minute as ever,as well as being the practical and informative guide you know andlove us for. If you’re moving house or merely exploring the differenthousing opportunities, go forward withconfidence and step into the sun – but mostof all happy, happy hunting!Best RegardsNikki Cook
