One thought from it: As Christians, we can't be interacting with the world on its terms. Our job is to invest ourselves in the Kingdom of God, and interact with the world through that.

Acts 29 - The Lost Chapter of Acts

from jkapp76 in Books

The lost chapter of Acts. The books of Acts and Thomas are the only two books in the New Testament that do not end with Amen; this has some scholars wondering if they are incomplete. However, this rare final chapter of Acts 29 ends with the word Amen.

whoopi671 scribbled: i've been raised up in the protestant tradition, but recently i've become a lot more interested in Catholicism, mostly due to reading Thomas Merton. i love the richness of the tradition within Catholicism, but there are certain things that i just don't buy into. For one, i just don't see the evidence given in Scripture (i agree with you that sola scriptura is flawed, but i definitely believe in prima scriptura) for the veneration of Mary. And to say that she has a role in our salvation just doesn't make sense to me theologically. Certainly Mary was an instrument of the Lord in being the mother of Christ, but wasn't she still a fallible human being (i don't see any evidence for her immaculate conception either)? i don't want to come off as antagonistic toward Catholic belief, because i am just seeking the Truth, in whatever form it may take. i've come to appreciate the Catholic Church a lot more recently, and i look forward to reading more of your works, brother!

Steve and Ben have a discussion, based off a letter of C.S. Lewis, about how Christians should think about war and pacifism, which leads into the interaction of Church and State. This discussion could have gone in so many different directions and gone on for a long time, but hopefully these thou...
