In terms of 'keeping the secret', how long did it take for the government to admit that it knew the attack on Pearl Harbor was coming ahead of time, and yet chose to allow it in an effort to increase support for the war? In terms of explosives needed: What better way for the FBI to become seen as a hero than to point the finger at some distant, bloodthirsty, Jesus-hating foreign attacker? Additionally, the FBI is an institution that is based on the handling of secrets.. why blow the lid if it isn't forced to? As for risk/benefits: The military industry, the oil industry, and the government have all made enormous gains. so a lot of the 'intelligent' people aren't getting the top business jobs. I repeat the age old question: "If you're so smart, why ain't you rich?" Social intelligence is also entirely overlooked. To understand social situations requires you to not only understand the meanings, context and subcommunications of a social interaction, but also to ACCURATELY understand and predict the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of every person, and quick decision making skills on how to direct all this to a favorable outcome! Thats a lot of things to think about going on at once! And I bet you its THOSE people who rise to the top of the ladder.
