The Trump Show: Sprawling, nervous, must-flee TV

Last Tuesday, the glow of the new year was fresh. It was a time, as early Januaries are, for reassessments and restarts, a time to put a fresh face on things. And on Jan. 2, the first business day of 2018, at 7:05 p.m., President Donald J. Trump tweeted:

"I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o'clock. Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!"

Trump later tweeted on Sunday that the awards would be pushed back to Jan. 17.
