A FEW YEARS AGO, MY ROOMMATE asked me to go with him to the doctor. He needed to get an HIV test, his first ever, and because he knew I was gay and dedicated to bi-annual testing, he wasn’t ashamed to ask for a bit of hand-holding. I agreed without a second thought.
