Beat-up Boxer!
I was approached by a very tall Scotsman with an R1100S on which he had clocked up just short of 160,000 miles, asking if I would restore it to be as close to new as was possible.
The chap may have been very fond of his bike, but he has been a cruel master to the oil-head boxer, regularly thrashing it around myriad race tracks, including five day sessions at the infamous Nürburgring. He has used it to commute long distances in all weathers and it has been thrown in the kitty litter on turn seven (McLean’s) at Donington Park. Before agreeing to take on the Teutonic twin, which is a tad outside my comfort zone, I explained to the owner of the bike that the costs involved with restoring a bike in such condition
