Warm summer days are the perfect time for a chilled glass of rosé wine – and also an ideal opportunity to try out). Some pink ciders get their hue and flavour from added ingredients – such as Hawkes Doom & Bloom, which uses rhubarb and strawberries () – while others use pink and red-fleshed apples, such as Normandy-based Maison Sassy’s elegant Cidre Rosé (; listen to episode 145 of the Olive podcast for an interview with founder Xavier) or The Newt in Somerset’s Fine Rosé Cyder (). The latter is one of the best we’ve tasted recently, with fragrant strawberry and cream aromas but refined dryness on the palate. A perfect option for summer sipping.
