Usually the things in life that appear to be contradictory seem to be the things that are the most challenging, and yet fulfilling.

I’ve been involved with martial arts for a while, and there is an old saying.

Karate makes hard people soft, and soft people hard. With painting, it’s suggested that the best paintings are painted with confidence. So, paint with confidence.…But how do you paint with confidence when you’re just starting out?

I’m not suggesting that we design some sort of martial-arts based painting style. That’s for an entirely different magazine. We will though, look at that concept of painting with confidence.
