The Teacher From the Black Lagoon

OK, so I'm not a fan of the books, but I did show this DVD this week to 3 classes of lower elementary kids and they begged for more. Go figure. This particular version has subtitles in large letters that the kids can read along and I encouraged them to read in their head and they watched the video.

The people in the book are not real but it could actually happen.

This is another adorable book about children being scared of their teachers before entering the classroom only to find out that the teacher is really nice, and different from how they thought she/he would be.

In this story, a little boy is very afraid on his first day of school. He falls asleep and dreams that he has a fire-breathing teacher from the black lagoon named Ms. Green. She even scrapes her nails down the chalk board! This is a great book to read on a first day of school to ease tension that nervous students may have about the first day of school. It is very entertaining and I would reccomend it to others.

"The Teacher from the Black Lagoon" is one of the classic books from the early 21st century and I never read it until now. The story is simple to follow, a boy arrives to school for the first time and is in class waiting for his teacher, Mrs. Green. While he is waiting he has a dream that Mrs. Green is a crocodile-lizard who lays waste to many of the boy's classmates. At the end of the story, Mrs. Green turns out to be a pretty blonde-haired teacher. I truly love horror stories and this is definitely one of them. Throughout the story I felt scared for the boy and his classmates. The other thing I found interesting about this story was how each classmate met their end. They were burned, devoured, headless, and many others. Mike Thayer manages to create a horror book with some elements of grotesque without having any sort of violence or blood shown which makes this a kid friendly book.

It's the first day of school and Mrs. Green is known to be a real mean teacher. A kid falls asleep in her class and he has wild dreams of her being a lizard and eating students. When the bell rings, he finds the teacher hasn't even entered yet and is glad to find out she is a pretty women who seems very nice. This goes to show you that you shouldn't put much stock into rumors.

The little boy in this story has heard all manner of bad things about his new teacher, Mrs. Green. He imagines even worse- he dreams she’s a monster eating everyone in class. When he wakes up to find a lovely, nice teacher, he runs over and hugs her in relief.
