Description

Two all-new novellas that cross the boundaries of desire. Exiled by Maya Banks--Enticed to the island paradise where an enigmatic prince is living in exile, beautiful, virginal Talia is introduced to a world of forbidden pleasure where the prince's every whim is fulfilled and her fantasies are rendered in exquisite detail. But when the prince is summoned back to fulfill his duty to his struggling country, reality is thrust upon Talia all too soon. She returns home, heartbroken, convinced she was a passing fancy for an idle ruler and his most trusted men. Until the day they arrive on her doorstep, determined to have her back where she belongs. Sway by Lauren Dane--Levi Warner is an established, older man--wealthy, powerful, and above all, respectable. Then Levi meets Daisy, an uninhibited 24-year-old dance instructor and artist, not exactly the kind of woman Levi is accustomed to. But the young, free spirit, brings out something in him he only experienced in fantasies. When their scorching affair turns into something unexpectedly deeper, Levi finds himself torn between preserving his reputation, and exploring a wilder and much more satisfying kind of life.

Finished this awhile ago. It had two novellas. The one by Maya Banks was awful (1 star). The one by Lauren Dane was great (4-5 stars).

The book is okay, but the narrator speaks too fast, slow down woman.

This review is for Sway by Lauren Dane.

I have to say that I wasn't sucked into this story. The characters weren't all that great, the relationship wasn't either, the plot was pretty predictable and I didn't care very much about the sex scenes. I thought they were crude and raw and weren't even that sexy. That whole leaving messages thing was WAAAY over the top. C'mon, who the hell needs a guy telling you how you should dress?! Saying that he likes this or that is one thing, but that?! NO! Oh, and there are just so many times an author can use the C word while the couple is doing the naked pretzel. Not sure if I'll read the second book.

I only read the Dane novel.

This is the first Delicious story, a continuation of the Brown Siblings series. The world is one of my favorites. Down-to-Earth professionals living their lives and falling in love.

This is the story of Daisy and Levi. Daisy is a 24 year old artist and Levi is a 40 year old attorney from a privileged family. They meet by chance at a dance studio and have an instant connection. Daisy is open to a relationship, but Levi isn't looking for love.

Daisy is a woman who knows what she wants. She may be 24, but she's confident in herself and sure of her place in the world. She isn't ashamed of her sexuality or of wanting more than a fling from Levi. She is my favorite kind of heroine. Not pushy or in your face, but independent and capable.

Levi is a dominant alpha-male. He's interested in BDSM but has been denying that part of himself because he doesn't want to let someone that close to him. While his feelings were understandable given his past, I had a hard time connecting with him.

I think his character would have worked better if he'd been written younger. His actions and reactions seemed immature at times (staying in bed with the covers over his head for 3 days after they break up?), especially for an established 40 year old.

They worked well together, but Levi's thoughts and feelings on his own marred my enjoyment somewhat. It's still a solid story, but not my favorite of Dane's.

Two novellas in one volume. The characters of "Exiled" are so stiffly rendered (and I can't even say "pun intended") that they come across as flat and unrealistic. It doesn't give any personality to the erotic scenes; the only interest there is to see what a woman can do with four men at once. The main characters in "Sway" are much more interesting: Daisy is strong, confident and affectionate while Levi is the intriguing sexy older man. What's lacking in this novella are more hot scenes between these two passionate people.

Title: Cherished Authors: Maya Banks and Lauren DaneSeries: Delicious # 1Publisher: Insatiable Press LimitedReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 4.5Reviews: (two)What I liked from Maya Bank's story.....ExiledStory Rating: 4Hero's Rating: 5Heroine Rating: 4Romance Rating: 4Heat Rating: 5Imagination: 5Ending: 4Narrator Rating: 4Overall Rating: 4 'Exiled' was one interesting story featuring Talia, Prince Alexander[Xander] and his most trusted friends.' This is a real BDSM theme and this author gives the reader a very intriguing read where the heroine feels that she has to take care of a debt to Prince Alexander. Will Tia be able to fulfill this obligation? Be ready for some real interesting characters that in the end will give the read some 'passion, love and oh yes some raw sexuality.' This story plot was really something to take in and wanting to tell it so, I will say you will have to pick up this read for yourself to see how this will all come out if for not other reason than to check out those steamy scenes that this author know how to give her readers. next....we have Lauren Dane's story....SwayStory Rating: 5Hero's Rating: 5Heroine Rating: 5Romance Rating: 5Heat Rating: 5Imagination: 5Ending: 5Narrator Rating: 5Overall Rating: 5'Sway'... was my favorite novella's of the two reads. I really enjoyed this author's perception of a sweet story of a younger woman with a older man. I liked this story of Levi and Daisy and I found most of the characters to be well developed, well portrayed and believable giving the reader a interesting and captivating read that will keep your attention till the end. I thought that this plot was very realistic and in the end the reader is given a sweet sexy read. Be ready for some erotic dominate scenes.

made me very uncomfortable. this ha horrible. went would some one right such disgusting, modifying male dominate over a woman. it did not feel in a romantic in passion moment but very cold an calculate. not caring for the other person's comfort but complete disregard. I couldn't even get past the 5th chapter

The first track was really good, I could read several more books with these characters. The second track left me feeling like there were chapters missing, it needed a better ending.

This book also contains a fantastic bonus called Sway by Lauren Dane. The book is the first one in a new series called Delicious. This review is only for the first book Cherished.

The story for Cherished of of a young girl (18) who is working many jobs to pay for her mother's medications. One job is as gardener assistant to the royal family of a small coastal country. As she stumbles it is the royal prince who helps her. Infatuation at first sight.

Prince Alexander or Xander as he prefers then pays for mother's bills and puts Talia through university. When she graduates she comes to him in excile on a paradise island. His three bodyguards Nico, Garon and Sebastian like Xander all fall for her sweetness and fiestness right away. Prince of course shares with his friends and guards.

Oh, By the Way, Talia is a virgin, or should I say was. There is a touch of Dom/sub but only slight. and definately hot group passion.

After three months in paradise, Talia's life goes to hell in a handbasket. Her world is shattered. But of course the gorgeous hot prince eventually sets the world straight.

This is a must read in my opinion for lovers of group sex and for followers of Banks or Dane. The book certainly provides bang for the buck. pun intended.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Cherished contains BDSM themes, one a little more into the theme than the other. Excerpt: “Exiled” & “Sway“ The Review: I haven’t read an anthology in a while, but I was looking forward to Cherished by Maya Banks and Lauren Dane. Why? Because it’s Maya Banks and Lauren Dane. Cherished contains two novellas that indulge the reader’s appetite for desire, and what perfect way to do it than have these two authors write it? Cherished contains BDSM themes, one a little more into the theme than the other. And because one had heavier BDSM content than the other, I didn’t connect to it as much as the other. “Exiled” Exiled by Maya Banks follows Talia, a 22-year-old virgin who is indebted to Prince Alexander. Talia met the Prince at the young age of 18, when she was a maid in the Prince’s home. An accident that could have caused Talia to lose her job. Not only did the Prince make an excuse for her on that day, he later on moved Talia and her ill mother to Paris. There Talia’s mother was set up to receive treatments for her cancer, and Talia attended a nearby University, all paid by the Prince. Four years later, after civil wars and social unrest, Prince Alexander was exiled to an island. There he arranged for Talia to join him. It wasn’t a surprise, but instead an agreement, laying out all of the expectations and rules that the Prince had for Talia. On the island, Talia and the Prince explore each other in a more intimate way. There, the Prince includes his most trusted men, his bodyguards, but also the men that he would trust Talia’s life with. He includes them in all ways that one would think of, and ways that one wouldn’t. Talia beings to blossom as a sexual female, pleasing and being pleased by the Prince and his three trusted men. There was passion, love, and raw sexuality. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. I couldn’t imagine a world where this story’s plot was a reality. I felt Talia to be naive and easy to trust, and given what was asked of her, I couldn’t get behind the idea. Some of the scenarios made me uncomfortable, but this reflects more with my reading comfort zone than the author’s ability to write or create. The scenes were steamy, that’s for sure, but I just couldn’t get into it. Rating 2/5 “Sway” (Delicious, Book 1) Levi is a lawyer who lives a normal life. He is an older man than most of our romance males, and has had an interesting and successful life so far. We first meet Levi in a dance studio, looking for his class that he promised to take for his brother’s wedding. Fate intervenes and he sees Daisy, a 24-year-old dancer/artist/creative outlet. Levi is fascinated by Daisy, her long legs, and the simplicity that she brings to dance. Fate intervenes and Daisy and Levi meet several times again, pushing Levi to finally ask Daisy out on a date. The romance blossoms from there, and the chemistry is quick and immediate. Daisy, a strong and independent woman, gives in to Levi’s subtle dominant side. She experiences many sexual fantasies that she has never felt before, and with Levi’s help, she is having the time of her life. The intensity fizzles a little bit, as emotions come into play. Levi has many doubts and issues, mostly from his past marriage and from nagging influences of his family. But the attraction cannot be ignored, and eventually Levi must choose. I felt Sway was more my cup of tea, than Exiled. I felt that there was more of a story behind Sway, at least one that I connected more with. I enjoyed the characters and the ebb and flow of the journey that both Levi and Daisy went on. I liked how my focus only stayed on two characters and a single relationship. I questioned some of Daisy’s actions, but I felt that Dane explained them throughout the story. Rating 3/5FTC Advisory: Penguin/Berkley provided me with a copy of Cherished. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
