About this audiobook
Devils in Exile is the story of a struggling Iraq War veteran, Neal Maven, who falls in with a crew of fellow veterans ripping off Boston-area drug dealers for profit. Their success upsets the balance of power in the local drug trade--they take the money while destroying the drugs--putting their lives increasingly at risk. As Maren becomes more involved with the crew, two worrisome things happen: he begins to suspect that the crew’s leader is not telling them how and why he is targeting Boston’s drug dealers, and he falls in lust with the leader’s girl, a tough former model with a drug habit. As the rip-off jobs get more dangerous, the Sugar Bandits are pursued by both a smart federal DEA agent and by a pair of psychopathic Jamaican hit men hired by the drug lords to find out who is stealing their money and drugs. When everything goes bad—and it goes very bad—Maven learns that there was more to the Sugar Bandits than he ever knew, and embarks on a one-man crusade to right the wrongs in which he unwittingly participated. Not everyone will survive his crusade, and Maven himself may or may not live to see who will win the day.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a good read, and other than the fact that the protagonist makes it to the end of the book, none of the plot went were I thought it was going. Nicely done.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed this book so much, I felt compelled to write a review and give it the credit it deserves! The book was an extremely fast paced, action thriller, that gradually gained momentum until the explosive finally. I had to force myself to put the book down so that I could get my chores done. I kept thinking to myself that this book will undoubtedly become a movie. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy! This was my first Chuck Hogan book I've read. I am buying the Prince of Thieves book to read next. Apparently that book is being made into a movie with Jeremy Renner and Ben Affleck due out in Sept. 2010.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"Devils in Exile" is a rough, tough, fast-moving, glitzy, smart thrill ride of a story. Guys will love this book. It will make a FANTASTIC movie. The premise--Neal Maven, a recently returned vet is recruited into an interesting vigilante-style force--a group of other Iraqi vets who track down BIG drug deals, run a raid, destroy the drugs and take the money (no, they aren't Robin Hoods--these guys are keeping the dough and living LARGE). But when things stop adding up and 'missions' start going wrong, Neal discovers that there is a hidden agenda at work and sets out to stop it, alone. Be careful you don't get paper cuts as you stay up all night turning pages as fast as you can because you HAVE to know what happens next!
