About this audiobook
Based on a beloved ten-part series in the San Francisco Chronicle, Come Back, Como is Steven Winn’s tender and hilarious memoir of his uncommonly rich experience with a dog who wanted nothing whatsoever to do with him. With humor and pathos, Winn describes the exasperating but ultimately rewarding effects the pet had on his family, the ordeals he and his dog endured together, and the greatest lesson Como taught him: that loving a dog can somehow make us more human.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Perhaps this book improves, but I quit after about 30 pages. The first chapter was funny, but couldn't get past the extended description of why the author and his wife were just too selfish to get their daughter the dog she so desperately wanted, for years! This read like something started during a memoir-writing class that the author thought he'd throw out at the wall and see if he got a contract.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Whether you are a pet lover or not, this story of the adjustment between a owner of an adopted dog from a shelter is at times funny, while tense at others, and then touching. It poignantly illustrates that all creatures want is love and acceptance, especially those of the human variety.
