About this audiobook

Icy reception. Smoldering deception. Blazing insurrection.

Ambrea Vas Allay is the rightful heir to the throne of Allay. But when she is summoned home from exile, she discovers that her father, who had executed her mother, has died. Her young half-brother, controlled by their uncle, has taken power. Ambrea is torn by an impossible choice: renounce the crown or waste away in prison. The last thing she expects is to be liberated by a huge, tattooed Tarian-or to feel a searing passion for her mysterious rescuer.

Rush "Ender" Blakely loves being part of the elite force of the Interplanetary Militia and the mission to save the princess Allay. But the tough Tarian hides a fiery secret-a blazing power that makes him literally too hot to handle. He must be crazy to carry a torch for this strong, beautiful princess-when any intimacy between them is bound to be explosive.

As Ambrea steels herself to take back the throne, does she dare entrust this scorching stranger with the fate of an empire-and, even more so, with her heart?

I have had this on my shelf for a long while now. I should have picked it up earlier, i really enjoyed it. I had to go out and find the second one after I was done :) I liked the strong characters and the interesting plot. The great thing about sci-fi stories is the great scope for plot. When the sky is no longer the limit, you can do anything.

I am usually not into the sci-fi aspects in books and such. This one has added what I like into the book like no one but Jacquelyn Frank can do. I devoured this book as I have her others. We are introduced to the Chosen Ones. A race that has powers, yet no one of middle age or older are around. I find that intriguing and wonder what more is in store for those Chosen Ones.

This is an adventure from the first page. It takes you along with Ambrea, "Ender" and the Interplanetary Militia while they are trying to restore Ambrea to her rightful place on the throne of Allay.
Ambrea Vas Allay has been exiled by her father for many years, but upon his death and the ddeath of her brother the throne rightfully belongs to Ambrea. Her fathers brother seems to have other ideas about who should rule.

Rush "Ender" loves being part of the elite Interplanetary Militia and this time their mission is to save Ambrea and restore her to the throne. It looks like the only way to accomplish this might be to use the fiery power that "Ender" has been long keeping a secret. But will his blazing power make him too hot to handle?

I was a bit skeptical about this one because I didn't like Frank's Nightwalkers series. However, the futuristic setting and sci-fi vibe seemed like a nice switch from the usual paranormal fare. And it was. I enjoyed reading this book, although it was a bit predictable and cheesy at times. There was a nice spread of adventure, drama, and passion -- all of which make for a fun read. I would definitely like to see where this series goes.

The author of this book is really good. This was my first time reading her books and I will be buying more in the future. She is very detailed and doesnt skip around a bunch like some authors do to get more in the store that is not necessary. The only thing I could think of that would improve this book is a glossary of terms they use and the futuristic items that are in the book. Besides that if you read it all the way through you get the idea of what everything is. Here is the book discription for you:Seduce Me in Dreams begins a sexy new futuristic series featuring an elite group of military heroes.Dark. Mysterious. Sensual. When Bronse Chapel, the commander of a specialized unit of the Interplanetary Militia, begins to dream about a beautiful and exotic brunette, he wants to dismiss it as being induced by lack of sleep…or perhaps lack of sex. But his instincts tell him it’s something different, something far more dangerous.Ravenna is the leader of the Chosen Ones, a small group of people from her village born with extraordinary powers. She doesn’t know that draws her to Bronse’s dreams night after night, but she senses that he and his team are in jeopardy. Ravenna can help him, but first Bronse must save the Chosen Ones from those who plan to use their powers for evil. Together, Bronse and Ravenna will be unstoppable. But Ravenna is hiding something that could endanger them all.

I really adored the Nightwalkers series, thought the Shadowdwellers series was ok, but found Frank's last series both boring and kind of creepy. So, I was both hopeful and slightly apprehensive when I started this one. Unfortunately, I only got about 100 pages into it before deciding that it's a DNF.The good: when Bronse and Ravenna are in scenes together, they have a really strong chemistry that reminds me of the sweet sensuality that made me like the Nightwalkers so much. The bad: everything elseIt starts off with 30 pages of world-building and character-developing via massive info dumps. All telling, little showing. I will admit that I found Bronse's rapturous descriptions of his male team-members' physical prowess kind of entertaining in a "is Frank going to add m/m elements?" sort of way, but with the amount of narrative head-hopping that went on I'm not sure that it was intentional. There's also the poorly done creative morphology - in addition to building worlds, Frank also builds words. Unfortunately, those words are along the lines of "nutria-treated water" -- because yes, having rodents involved in water treatment seems like a good idea. (Seriously, did this book have an editor?)What finally made me give up, though, were the descriptions of Ravenna's physical abuse and sexual molestation by her captors. I fully admit to being squeamish, but honestly, I don't want to read about that garbage in my escapist literature - there's enough of it in the news. I'll tolerate it from a few authors, but here it just seemed exploitative, grotesque and physically unlikely (that Ravenna would live through it without extensive damage/medical treatment, I mean).Anyway, I'm glad this was free but I'm sad that an author I used to adore is now going on my to-avoid list.

Once again Jacquelyn Franks has created a new world worth reading about. The characters are well developed and the story line moves along at a good pace. Add in some good sci-fi fighting and you have an excellent first book in a series, and yet it didn't feel like a first book. Meaning it could stand alone she didn't leave you hanging with an obvious "this is what the next book will be about" it could involve any number of excellent characters and I am excited about reading the next one. So I hope she writes fast.

Jacquelyn Frank is usually one of my favorite authors, but I had a really hard time getting into this book. The first half a dozen chapters were really hard to get through and I actually had to put down the book and come back to it. The book did get better, but was not one of my favorites.

I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers. I started it, and I'm not sure that it's my favorite. It is well written and has nice details, but it's more of a space-age Star Wars type of thing and I like to stay on Earth mostly...even if it is a completely different Earth.

I had intended to try Jacquelyn Frank’s novels because I’d heard good things about her writing skill, so when Seduce Me in Dreams showed up in the Library Thing Early Reader program, it seemed a good match. I was not disappointed. Though this novel is Frank’s debut in the area of SF Romance, her writing skill is evident in both the depth of the characters and the complexity of the plot. That’s not to say the story was without its oddities and one notable weakness, but that the skill with which even the problematic parts were laid down made the reading enjoyable. The only real weakness I noticed is, sadly, the very beginning. To ground her readers in the fact that this is a science fiction novel, the first nine pages especially are heavy with backstory, about the main character, his unit, and even what military they served in and why. On the other hand, this info dump is somewhat balanced by the presentation of this information as the equivalent of Commander Bronse Chapel’s life flashing through his mind as he drags a wounded team member out of a hot situation across a burning desert with no guarantee that they’ll survive long enough to get to the ship waiting to blast them off this planet. It’s an odd combination of backstory and en media res, with lives on the line and tension as well as setting up the story line to come.A story does start almost immediately afterwards with threads winding into that first scene. There is a complicated plot that binds Chapel to a woman with abilities he doesn’t understand and can’t help but trust as Ravenna touches his heart in ways he’s never felt before. I don’t want to say too much, because how it unfolds is well done and knowing some of the answers might spoil even the early chapters. However, I will tell you the story is compelling. I have some questions about the very end, but I also have some theories about why it is that way, and the ending does manage to bring the story full circle. The other oddity is the one major sex scene as the two main characters come together. It is detailed to the point of erotica in my mind, but if that bugs you, you can skim for the character parts (which are interwoven) and move on because besides that one scene, it’s reasonable on the relationship side and does a good job of showing a lasting love developing under pressure and decidedly unique circumstances.Overall, the strengths are in the characters, though the plotting is strong. I saw similarities to the Star Wars novels by Karen Traviss, another author I like, in how the characters and the military aspects were portrayed. As a reader, I wanted to keep going and discover how Chapel and Ravenna, along with the rest of the team, were going to survive crisis after crisis, which is always a good sign. There are things left floating, in my opinion, with the main resolution being the relationship, but to me that’s more a signal Frank isn’t done with this world than a weakness in the book.

I have really enjoyed Jacquelyn Franks other series so I was really excited to start Seduce me in Dreams. I had a harder time getting into this one.I didn't feel the characters were as well developed as in the nightwalker books and the romance wasn't as engrossing. It was an okay book but not up to the standard I expect from her.

Honestly, I really tried with this one; the concept--a psychic connection between an uber-warrior interplanetary version of a Green Beret and a backwoods (backplanet, really) female in desperate need of rescuing--was interesting. However, the heavy handed characterizations and silly spellings (Ebony is spelled Ebbanny, for instance) really got on my nerves. Really, were the spellings supposed to make everything seem more foreign and edgy? It definitely fell flat for me. I made it about 2/3 of the way thru before I just had to give up on the boring, Mary Sue-ish plotline and underdeveloped (and frankly underwhelming) main characters.

This story really set the stage for the coming books. J. Frank had to build the world and the background and that takes time. I didn't like Bronse and Ravenna as much as I've liked some of her past characters, but I loved the world and the premise. I'm very much looking forward to the coming books in this series.

I was between books and wanted something that still had paranormal or fantasy elements in it, but not vamps or were-wolves. Sometimes I just need a break from them, ya know? So, when I saw this book was in the sci-fi catagory and still had romance elements in it, I immediately wanted to read it.Before I read books, I always read a couple reviews just to get a feel for what to expect. I don't read spoilers, but I have a couple of blogs I always check to see if they have read it and see what they thought. The summary is just not enough to get me interested in books all the time, I like to know what my fellow readers think. Many of the reviews I read on this book talked about the slow start and confusion in the first couple of chapters. I did not feel that way at all. I thought the beginning of the book was actually the opposite, it started with a bang and then had a couple of slow pockets here and there as the story progressed. As for the confusion, if you read sci-fi then you are probably used to getting names of strange places and people thrown at you and this book is no different. As someone who reads a lot of sci-fi/paranormal/fantasy, I did not have any problems with all the information introduced in the first couple of chapters and keeping it all straight. I actually liked learning about a world I have never explored before, it kept me interested. The secondary characters really took the book up a notch. Many times in books you get a great feel for the two main characters, but the supporting cast can sometimes be neglected. In Seduce Me in Dreams, Jacquelyn gives you insight into multiple characters lives and it adds depth to the already intricate world she has created. Some of the characters did stay in the background a little, but you are given enough information about them to get a good feel for their personalities and want to see more of them in the future. Bronse leads his crew and Ravenna is the support system for the Chosen Ones so as a reader it is important to know what kind of people stand behind both of them. The only downside to this book was the ending. I know that everything is not going to be resolved at the end since this book is part of a series, but I am used to having the main issues resolved. While most of them were, there were a couple of very open-ended story lines that I was not happy with. I cannot say to much without getting spoilery so I will stop there. I am hoping that Jacquelyn has left some of these questions to tease us and will answer them in future books. Overall, the ending just fell a little short and was somewhat anti-climatic. I was expecting a little more after such a big build up and was left a little disappointed. I would not let this discourage you from reading the book though because it is still a great read, just be ready to have questions at the end.Seduce Me in Dreams has a great cast of characters that you can't help but get attached to. The world Jacquelyn has created is fascinating and has left me wanting more from it. I am excited for the next book in the series that comes out later this year called Seduce Me in Flames. I have not read any of Jacquelyn's book before, but I really enjoyed her writing style in this book and I will definitely be checking out her other books out now.

For me this book started out slow the 1st fifty pages are a lot of world(s) building that I thought I'd never get though...but once that is out of the way this story takes off with a bang! Well worth sticking it out....Not only is there a great chemistry and story line between Bronse & Ravenna I have already found myself dying to read the other's stories as well, especially Ophelia (I probly spelled wrong) whom is the younger sister of Ravenna and a chosen of great healling power. Two Thumbs Up to Frank on another Must Read Series!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this book to be a better than average romance. It takes place in the three worlds...none of which is Earth. This may be a far future story, or it may be a Star Wars-like story, set in a galaxy far far away, but still with human beings. An experienced high-danger military team are sent on dangerous missions throughout the three worlds. During one such mission, the leader stumbles across two prisoners who have extraordinary (psychic) abilities. And they will need to work together to defeat danger from within....The characters in this series are interesting and well-developed; most of the supporting characters even have mini story arcs of their own, which doesn't take away from the romantic arc whatsoever.Worth a try if you want romance of a different kind!

This was the first book I have read by Jacquelyn Frank and I was pleasantly surprised. I do like a good sci-fi and the world building and storyline were well done. Bronse and Ravenna were both solid characters and I enjoyed their romance. I had a bit of trouble getting into the story at first and put it down and picked it up several times. But eventually the story hooked me in and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved all the various characters and look forward to seeing them in the rest of the series, which I will definitely be picking up. I may even search out some of Frank's backlist as well.

I"m not much for books with alot of narrative in it, but the story so caught me that I did enjoy this book. Loved the characters and really want to know what happens to all of them. It was a nice blend of paranormal and scifi. Wanting to know who was trying to kill Bronse held my interest and wondering when he was going to meet Ravenna. Great characters and storyline.

I honestly can't say this book was bad, because it wasn't. It just had too much narrative for me. Alot of people like it, I tend to lose patience with it. This book also felt more sci-fi than paranormal romance but again, could just be me and my take on it.

Having loved some of Jacquelyn Frank's prior efforts, I was excited for this next book. While it does have some of the same aspects of earlier works, the racy scenes are included, I was not able to become as engrossed. While the fantasy world is woven intricately, some of it is far more technical than needed. IM, VidPads, ETF, etc. Yes, points for creativity, but I am not reading a stereo installation manual. I want a saucy beach read. I think I may be a bit biased, as I was expecting paranormal and got SciFi. Now, if you like your hero to be brooding, damaged, and 'macho' while the heroine to be virginal and flawless, this will be just fine. Personally, I am pretty much beyond that. However, it was a distraction, so it gets a few points in that regard.

Having their lives on the line was nothing new for Commander Bronse Chapel of the Interplanetary Militia, finding evidence that suggested he was the true target of his latest missions didn’t settle well for him or his crew. The gut feelings he was having didn’t help any either. Finding those feelings were apparently connected to his dreams didn’t make him feel much better. As the commander of the First Active Extreme Tactics Force (ETF), he had to press on for the answers. Knowing she was the one that kept creeping into his dreams, Ravenna could only hope he could remember enough of the warning she had told him of and hope the future would prove him as the savor of herself and her family of Chosen Ones. Enduring the torture would be worth it if he found her in time. Finding his dream was real affected so many discussions already, but if she really was prophetic, maybe everything would work out in the end. Book 1 ….. Seeing Jacquelyn Franks name on this, led me to think that it was going to be a paranormal romance. It wasn’t, but that is ok, these wonderful characters are so easy to care about, well, maybe not Kith. The idea that IM special forces team will work with the chosen ones makes me eager to see what is next and how each of them grow. I sincerely hope the Jacquelyn Franks plans are for each of them to have a story. I am interested in seeing the changes that each of them makes because of the presence of the other or in spite of their presence.

Having read a previous book by Jacqueline Frank, I really wanted to like this book. The story line was interesting but there was so little story written. I love a steamy book, but this left me yawning. Regretfully, Seduce Me in Dreams was unoriginal, boring and forgetable. I look forward to something closer to her Shadowdwellers series.

I did not enjoy this book as much as other books previously written by J. Frank. Would have liked the emotional and romantic connection between Bronse and Ravenna to be stronger and more believable. Felt like a lot of background work has been laid out for the series, which also bogged down this story. Hopefully the continuation of the series will have more excitement and romance than this book provided.

As he pounds heroically across the black sands of Ebbony toting his fallen comrade to safety, Commander Bronse Chapel senses something more than his team's mission is going wrong. As his dreams grow increasingly erotic, and his attraction for the brunette seductress who haunts his unconscious increases, Bronse begins to doubt his sanity. But when reality intersects with his dreams, Bronse knows some things are meant to be.For the Chosen Ravenna, seeing past present and future is par for the course - but her strange attraction for the soldier/savior she foresees coming to her family's aid is far from ordinary. She'll have to trust him with far more than herself or they'll never survive the forces that stand against them.Umm.... okay, where to start... Honestly, this reads like a poorly edited first romance novel. But according to the cover promos, this is an NYT bestselling author with several previous series under her belt? I sincerely hope some of the over-wraught prose dies on the editor's desk prior to press time. The premise isn't fresh and it's been done far, far better. Melodramatic, over-wrought and over-written sex scenes compete with wooden dialogue. But if you like your romances futuristic and fraught with pulsating, surging, animalistic pitches, micro-tremors and ecstasies beyond all imaginings, not to mention more than a few tasteless lines. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a prude, but it was really difficult (hard, one might say) to read without giggling hysterically as our hero thinks to himslef, "One day soon she'd be giving the most skilled head in the universe, but today was about firsts and onlys." I made it to page 214 and skimmed through the rest. Not one I'll be keeping.

I thought this story line had potential, however I feel like it missed the mark. I didn't mind all the detail that went into the military tactics but sometimes the background story dragged. I also didn't like how Bronse was portrayed when it came to Ravenna, the author built him up as someone with such iron self control. I didn't buy the fact that he couldn't help kissing her at the most inappropriate times. Bronse is suppose to be this amazing military leader. It seems like Ravenna is his weakness, I don't think his character would allow such weaknesses to disrupt a mission and put his soldiers in danger (which Bronse did by staying at the temple). I guess I would have liked Ravenna to be a strength for him not a negative influence. To be honest I had to force myself to finish this book.
