    That hyperactive porcine wonder, Olivia the pig, returns in this second delightful picture-book devoted to her adventures, this time sharing a highly embroidered and imaginative retelling of her vacation experiences with her classmates. Attending a circus where all the performers are out sick with ear infections, Olivia the ever-ready steps in and performs ALL of the circus roles herself... or so she maintains when sharing the tale at show-and-tell.Like its predecessor, the Caldecott Honor-winning Olivia, Olivia Saves the Circus features an imaginative and feisty young girl-pig, one who is headstrong but also essentially goodhearted. The artwork, done in charcoal and gouache, is absolutely lovely, capturing the humor of the tale perfectly. My favorite scene was the one in which the lion roars at Olivia, and she roars right back at him, although the exasperated expression on the face of Olivia's teacher is priceless as well. Highly recommended to anyone who has read and enjoyed the first Olivia book, or who enjoys stories about imaginative and feisty young girls.

    Olivia, the pig, has such a wild, but creative, imagination. I think children can be truly inspired by her creativity and imagination. In this book, Olivia devises a story about when her mother took her, as well as her younger brother, to the circus, which was filled with lots of descriptive details. Reading this before doing writing workshop would be very beneficial because students would get an idea of how to write a fictional story.

    Olivia has to stand up and tell her class what she did during the summer. She explains how she went to the circus but all of the circus people were out with an ear ache so she took on the show and mastered everything even being the tattooed man.

    This was a very cute story of Olivia. She tells her class that she "saved the circus" after she arrived at the circus and all of the performers had ear infections. Olivia told her classmates she was the one girl circus, training dogs, jumping on trampolines, just to name a few things. And she claims it was all true. This book would be good to teach a lesson about story telling, whether it be real or not, and story telling infront of your peers.

    Olivia Saves the Circus is a wonderful picture book with cute pictures, which drawn by pencils. It tells us a story of a pig who named Olivia, she tells about her summer vacation and how, when she went to the circus and all the performers were out sick, so she saved the circus and becoming the Tattooed Lady, she can do everything in the circus. This story also want to say mother is always encourage us whether better or worse.

    This book is about a little pig named Olivia and her telling her class a story about the circus. The pictures are all black and white with certain things colored red. I believe the things that were red, were what the author what its readers to focus on.

    Olivia Saves the Circus is about a pig who goes to school and tells a very vivid story. She and her mother go to the circus, but everyone has an ear infection. Luckily, Olivia is an expert at every aspect of the circus! When she is finished telling the story the teacher obviously knows she is making it all up. She questions Olivia if its all true, she said to her recollection. Olivia's mother asked about school and her response was "fine." Olivia has a great sense of imagination that no one can take away from her. The author did a great job of vividly writing every moment of Olivia's "flash back". This book depicts children's sense of creativity and their imagination! I love encouraging anyone, but especially children to use their imagination and this book does!

    This book was a short fantasy read about a pig with a wild imagination. Olivia tells about her vacation in her class and uses her imagination to create this whole story about how she saved the circus when all the circus people were sick. She talks about taming the lions, riding unicycles and walking tightropes.

    Olivia was personally one of my favorite books as a young girl. So reading Olivia Saves the Circus was a fun reminder of the quirky, vibrant pig Olivia is that I loved. As a character Olivia is relate-able to young children because they are still in the mind set of being able to do anything they want. In the story Olivia believes she saves the whole circus by performing every act. Children see this and feel the way Olivia feels. They live ordinary lives at home but in their head a whole other world is going on at the same time. Olivia encourages children to have those dreams and use a creative mind as to not be confined to any concrete way of thinking. If children don't explore their dreams and ideas it will hinder who they will become in their later years. Also, the speech and mindset Olivia uses is adequate to that of a child. When she calls the middle child her "old little brother" this is the language and thought process children are using themselves. All of this makes Olivia a relate-able character for the dreamers in young children.

    Olivia is a precocious little pig who enjoys being helpful, is very confident, and has a wonderful imagination. When her mother takes her to the circus one day, all the performers are sick. Olivia takes it upon herself to perform all the circus acts herself, therefore saving the circus. Kids will love Olivia, and laugh at her clever antics. This would be a great story to get kids talking about how they help other family members leading them to realize how confidence can be induced by being helpful and cooperative.

    The Olivia books are just down right cute. I don?t think you have to read an Olivia story to teach a student a lesson with in the story. They are just so cute and funny not to read to a class. The story that I read was when Olivia saves the day at the circus. It was her day to tell her class at school about her family vacation, so she decided to tell the class when her mother took her bother and her to the fabulous circus. She had to become Olivia the lion tamer, tattoo lady, unicyclist, clown, juggler, and had to walk on stilts. She continued to name jobs that she had to take over at the circus because everyone who usually had that job was out with ear infections on that day. She ended up just going sailing with her dad. She wanted to make her vacation sound really cool for her classmates, so she used her imagination a little.

    This is the fantastical tale of Olivia the magnificent! This little pig can do anything she sets her mind to One day at school, Olivia gets to tell her class the story of her vacation. Her mom took her and her brother to the circus where all the performers were sick. Luckily she could do all the performer?s acts, so the show went on. Ian Falconer?s illustrations always amuse the readers. He uses minimal colors, usually one color on a page aside from blank and white. That really makes an artistic statement. I?m always surprised at what Olivia does next, but I?m never bored. Children won?t be either.

    Eh. I usually like the Olivia books, but this was one distinctly all right. I can't get past the idea that it's ok to lie to your teacher about what you did, even after he asks several times if that's really what happened. It just didn't have...that something that the Olivia books usually have.
