[Saturday, February 18, 2012] I got this book (finally) in the 11th of this month, and I started reading it yesterday. And I simply can't let it go, I love this feeling when a book makes me unable to leave it, so I take it everywhere with me: to bed, to the bathroom, to the kitchen even when I'm out of the house and it's snowing hard!
I'm half way through the book and I can't wait to finish it, though there is a part of me that's saying: "Slow down! Book 3 is coming out by the end of the year!" and knowing Cassandra Clare, I'm sure there will be another cliff-hanger.
I really enjoy Tessa's character, I love that she's a book lover. But if I were her, I might get confused as well between James and William. They are both hot and they both love her. But still I would chose Will. I love the way he loves Tessa.
The ending broke my heart! :(
Merged review:
Oh, goodness! By the Angel, why did this book turn out this way?????????? Aaaaaaarghhh!!!
But what surprise me was the first chapter when the author revealed the extend of Will's feeling to Tess. Later it was revealed that Will was cursed by a demon when he was twelve; to have everyone he love die. With the death of his older sister, he immediately ran away from his home and become shadowhunter. Will was allowed to evolve according to the storyline and brought some insight to his character and how serious he thought about how the curse would have an effect to everyone around him. He's just a misunderstood boy.
Although the cover is Jem, I had most certain that the book is all about Will. I'm such a sucker with complicated boys so as for character development, Will is definitely A .
As for the story, the book was situated neatly right after the event that leads from the death and despair at the Institute with the fresh raw betrayal from Nate Gray, Tess's brother and the investigation that attempt to uncover The Magister. As usual, some books was never that predictable.
Steampunk YA romance. What not to like?
In Clockwork Prince, Clare focuses on Tessa as she comes to terms with her ability (the Change) and who she is as a person. It describes teenage confusion with a reality that will remind readers of their own youth and experiences.
When Charlotte's control of the Institute comes into jeopardy due to Montmain's existence and power, they are given 2 weeks to locate him in order for her to remain in charge of London's Institute. The Shadowhunters aided by Tessa are on the hunt and are determined to save Charlotte's job. At the same time, Tessa must figure out whether or not she has feelings for Will or Jem and if she does what that means for her future.
Well written and both the plot and characters are thoroughly developed. This book will hold you tight and not let go until the last page has been turned (and even then, you will be grasping for the next installment).
Complete review to come.
