      was going to give it 4 stars -- interesting characters, unusual and (as far as i can tell) consistent world building. then, i get to the end and discover the story's problems continue into more books: the first book does not tell you it's part of a series, so you expect it to have a satisfying ending.and then, it doesn't. hallmarks of "architect of sleep" and "hyperion".I HATE THAT!

      IMO, this thing falls apart in the last 100 pages. Dion's "miraculous" discovery seems pretty unlikely given the amount of time that has passed; surely some wolfwalker could have thought of this before? While Harper mentions that the wolfwalkers are rare, I don't get the impression that they are stupid.
