About this audiobook
From New York Times bestselling author Kate White comes a riveting psychological suspense in which a media star must battle a malevolent enemy who may be disturbingly close to her.
After losing her on-air job two years ago, television host Robin Trainer has fought her way back and now she’s hotter than ever. With her new show climbing in the ratings and her first book a bestseller, she’s being dubbed a media double threat.
But suddenly, things begin to go wrong. Small incidents at first: a nasty note left in her purse; her photo shredded. But the obnoxious quickly becomes threatening when the foundation the makeup artist uses burns Robin’s face. It wasn’t an accident—someone had deliberately doctored with the product.
An adversary with a dark agenda wants to hurt Robin, and the clues point to someone she works with every day. While she frantically tries to put the pieces together and unmask this hidden foe, it becomes terrifyingly clear that the person responsible isn’t going to stop until Robin loses everything that matters to her . . . including her life.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It kept me listening and I enjoyed the story but it wasn’t super captivating. the narrator did a great job ?
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Ok story. The narrator fitted my stereotype of a New York media lady. Fun to listen to but quite forgettable.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good story. Mediocre writing style.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Eyes on You is billed as a "riveting psychological suspense" in the synopsis. I can't honestly say I was convinced of that during this read. There are things about Kate White's newest story that are done well. The writing is solid and the blinding glamour of television celebrities is evident. It's just that I never really felt the suspense that I was promised. Let me explain.
First off, it's evident that White once wrote for the world of fashion. The opening page of Robin's story puts that front and center, as she describes a brand new pair of heels she's donned for a book launch party. Rather in-depth. See, Robin is caught up in the life of a celebrity. A television personality, and a successful author, her life revolves around being known. She's used to being in the spotlight, loves the validation that comes with the job, and she's not shy about it. It is this very fact that puts her in the cross-hairs of a mysterious enemy.
That being said, most of the book really is dedicated to Robin's life. Instead of the promised suspense, which is only mildly peppered in, the reader is treated to lavish parties, sumptuous dinners, and illicit affairs. I found myself skimming forward in an effort to finally get to the next piece of puzzle. I wanted less Robin, and more mystery. Even the actual events that took place to make her feel like she was being stalked drove me a bit mad. They weren't edgy, or exciting. Which made the ending of this book feel like it came out of left field, and not in a good way.
I'll admit that this book is well-written. The characters are fleshed out enough to love or hate, the lifestyle is described in all its glory, and Robin is an interesting enough protagonist. The problem is that this never felt like psychological suspense. I never felt worried for Robin. I never felt nervous about what might happen next. This felt like a story about a woman who has made it to the top, and is afraid to let it slip. Bill it as that? I'll take it. Bill it as a suspense novel? You haven't quite hit the mark. So, three stars to Eyes on You. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5the plot had lots of twists and turns making me second guess ,you Thoughts. I think the book could've had more excitement and thrilling moments.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not my kind of book. I should have known when it started off with a description of a pair of shoes. It got recommended to me by the library ebook system, which just goes to show that the recommendation system really isn't very good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Reading this book was an enjoyable experience, and I wasn't even deterred when someone said it is chick-lit. The author did a great job of mixing foretelling and misdirection. It was just the right sort of light reading that I needed this week.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5At least for me, the audio was good enough that "I" didn't need as much detail in the description of the physical relationship with Carter---authors at times seem to think they need to throw a lot of sex in there to hold the story together---but there was enough in this mystery of "who did what" to leave most of that out---a little yes, but unnecessary details.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was an audiobook that I downloaded from my public library’s electronic site. I picked it based on the description which sounded good but it was nothing spectacular. In fact, I would say the description of the book as “A Novel of Suspense” is false advertising. The narrator was not very good either although she tried to inject the right notes based upon the writer’s descriptions. In short, the book centres around a TV talk show host on a network that specialized in talk shows. I can’t even remember the name of the protagonist which shows how memorable she was. She is the victim of pranks and tricks that escalate over the course of a few weeks. She suspects the host of another talk show (Vicki) on the same network because she has been nearby when many of the incidents have occurred. However, the last incident in which a brownie lace with a powerful sleeping pill was left for the woman just before she went on air (and she ate it after being advised to be careful—how dumb is that) took place when Vicki was out of town. The network’s security adviser investigated but determined that the woman had orchestrated this herself and the network fired her. Fortunately, one of the people who worked on the show did not believe this version and found a woman (Sharon) who had worked with Vicki twenty years previously and suffered the same kind of attacks. Sharon came to New York to speak with the host’s lawyer but was killed before she could do so. Then, of course, the host is the victim of a near fatal attack by the murderer. Is it a spoiler if I say the murderer was not Vicki? I was not in the least surprised because I picked the real perpetrator at least halfway through the book.If you are dying to know what goes on behind the scenes on TV then read or listen to this book but, otherwise, give it a pass. I wish I had done so.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a very good read. I read this as part of the Library Consortium 'Big Read'. White does an excellent job drawing out the suspense to a twisting conclusion, without throwing in some bizarre red herrings, as some authors will. She left me hanging at the end of every chapter, and of course, I had to read on to find out what happens. Thinking how most of this plot could happen in any common workplace is chilling and disconcerting. I look forward to reading more of White's works.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Eyes On You by Kate White is a 2014 Harper publication. This book is a part of a “Big Library Read” promotion and so I decided to play along and check this one out with my Overdrive account. This one starts off strong with the lead character, Robin Trainer, celebrating her new book, and she is a co-host on a television news magazine show and really feeling her stride, until it becomes apparent that someone wants her out as the host of the TV show and will resort to all manner of cunning to get their way. But, the momentum is lost by the midway point as the story starts to play out like an old 1980's made for TV movie. With this book being promoted so heavily with all the libraries, I was excited to get started on it,and at first the book almost had a satirical feel to it with all the politics, jealousy, and backstabbing that takes place behind the scenes of Robin's television show. But, no, I don't think the author intended any type of dark humor and was playing it straight all the way through. It even started to develop a “cheesy” quality to it after a while, and to say it was predictable is an understatement. Overall, this was mostly a disappointment and for mystery and thriller readers, I think it's safe to say you won't be missing anything if you give this one a pass. 2 stars
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I read this book as part of a "Big Read." I must confess it is not my favourite genre but I enjoyed it nevertheless. White has written a decent thriller with all the elements necessary to make it interesting. The red herrings however proved to be just that - red herrings; and, the culprit was somewhat obvious. All in all a good summer read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A great fast paced mystery!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have read this authors books. I did like them. However I have to say that this book got back to the best of Ms. White's roots like her first book Hush. I had not read any books from this author for a few years due to they were only ok. I decided to try this one out. Very fast read. In fact, I was half was done before I took a break. Although there are some weak moments like how come none of the characters in this book picked up on the fact that there was someone out to get Robin. No one knew until Robin told them and even than they did not put two and two together. Also, Robin was a bit ditzy herself. Despite all of this I did like this book. There was enough suspense to keep my attention until the end. Also, the romance thrown in the mix was fine but not really required. The book was good even if there had been no romance. I look forward to the next book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Kate White has no lack of experience when it comes to writing. She's the former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine, has written numerous non-fiction books on careers and leadership as well as a number of fiction titles that have made appearances on the New York Times bestseller lists. Her latest title, Eyes on You, releases June 24/14 and is the first book I've read from this author. Television host Robin Trainer has bounced back from both career and personal setbacks two years ago. She's got a hit show on her hands, and a book that looks destined for the best seller lists. But someone seems to be just as determined to knock her back down. Small things like nasty notes quickly evolve into actual physical harm. Who could it be? And why? Well, White gives us lots of direction. Or misdirection if you will. She gives lots of attention to each and every possible perpetrator, leaving the actual doer as a fairly obvious conclusion. I got the gist of White's writing when the opening paragraph was a fairly detailed description of a pair of shoes Robin has chosen to wear. As mentioned above, White was the editor in chief of Cosmo magazine. Her writing style is very similar in tone to the magazine's image and content. Lots of celebrity, sex and lifestyle. It was hard for me to like Robin as I found her to be a shallow, self-absorbed diva. Indeed, most of the characters are one dimensional. The plot is somewhat pedestrian as well. I found myself speed reading, just to get to the end to confirm the whodunit. For this reader, the publisher's description - 'a riveting novel of psychological suspense' was a bit of a reach. Light suspense for that plane ride or the beach? Yes.
