This book is hilarious. The cows have an electric typewriter so they make demands on Farmer Brown by typing a note to him. Then the hens do the same thing! Along comes a neutral party--the duck, The outcome is not what you might suspect. I think it would be great fun to read this book to a preschooler because the ideas are silly, the illustrations are terrific, and the story introduces quite a few ideas to discuss. In addition, you can explain to a preschooler what a typewriter is before they all completely disappear! :D

Using the neutral Duck as a negotiator, farmer and animals negotiate, until a compromise is reached. Unfortunately for the farmer, the typewriter falls into the hands of the ducks next...Originally published in 2000, and chosen as a Caldecott Honor Book in 2001, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type is a hilariously entertaining picture-book romp! I would imagine that young listeners will get quite a few giggles out of Farmer Brown's outraged incredulity (I know I did!), and will enjoy following along as the cows negotiate better living conditions. The artwork by Betsy Lewin builds on the madcap humor of the text perfectly, and is very appealing. Recommended to young children who enjoy stories with a silly sense of humor.

This one I really enjoyed. The cows and the farmer having a stalemate and the ducks brokering a peace agreement. Cute, funny and quick this is an enjoyable tale.

Click, Clack, Moo, cows that type is such a great fun book. I love the imagination that it teaches the children that anything can happen. Cows don't really type but it would be interesting if they did.

Growing up, this was my FAVORITE book to read with my grandpa. This book is great for children grades K-3 as a read-aloud or independent read. I would use this book for a lesson on onomatopoeia because the words "click" and "clack" actually sound like what a typewriter sounds like. I could also use this book for a lesson on writing letters because the ducks and cows write the farmer letters.i think the kids would like this book because it is funny and is short enough to where students will not get bored when reading it.

I read this book numerous times when I was younger and it was great to revisit it! Farmer Browns cows can type and when they are tired of the way they are being treated, they type farmer brown a letter of their demands, when he refuses to meet those demands, they go on strike! A funny tale about a few clever and witty cows :)

This book is written to be a comedy. The pictures are cute and the book itself uses repetition by having each of the animals wanting something from the farmer. This book is great for younger children because they will find it funny and the pictures will keep them interested.

I would use this book to demonstrate repetition. I think children would enjoy repeating the "click, clack, Moo," of the cows.

I liked this book because I thought it was very clever. It reminds me of the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. If you give the cows a typewriter, they might write you a note. It made me laugh that the ducks got the type writer and the story continued. This book is about what happens when the cows get a typewriter. They are able to voice their opinions and give some demands to the farmer. They decide to make a trade to get what they want. I think this book could be used as a mentor text to talk about persuasive writing. Students could write letters to persuade others about something they feel strongly.

This book is quite comical and written for young, elementary readers. It follows the story of barn yard animals, mostly cows, that find a typewriter and begin asking the farmer for electric blankets and other items. It is very entertaining and uses pictures and some repetition that helps younger readers.

This book is very comical and it involves a lot of typing. Basically the animals on the farm, the cows in particular want a blanket to keep them warm. When Farmer Brown refuses, the cows go on strike. Their only way of communicating with Farmer Brown is through letters they are trying on an old type writer. The great part about this book is that it can be read-aloud very easily because when the cow are typing the reader and the kids can say "Click Clack Moo" along with the cows. This is a great book and it will keep the children laughing and engaged.

In the end, Farmer Brown gives his cows electric blankets. This story would be great for young elementary grades, it's predictable, humourous, and has wonderful illustrations.

The book is an award winning Caldecott and is very fun to read with children. The children think it is funny that the cows type. I recommend this book to have in the classroom.

The cows from Bob's Farm get a typewriter and they start making demands for electric blankets. The farmer refuses to give them what they want eventually they make an agreement were they both get what they want. I have read this book to my students both in Spanish and English they enjoyed it.

My Personal Reaction: This book is wonderful and has the potential to be very interactive with students. "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type" received a Caldecott Award, so the illustrations are obviously wonderful. It was also a great book to help explain to students what a negotiation is,and how it works.Classroom Extension Ideas:1. Have students journal about which farm animal would ask for something from Farmer Brown after the ducks and what they think this animal would ask for.2. During a social studies unit that includes an economics lesson, this book could be used to help show what a negotiation is.

A children's book about collective bargaining. Amazing!

Just a book about cows going on strike and writing notes to a farmer via computer... no big deal. Happens all the time right? Descriptive language... funny and cooky. Would be nice to just have available in the classroom library or to use as a read aloud.

This book is great for kids! They would get so excited to read it because it is so silly. I would teach the students about typewriters and explain everything about them. I would also let students use computers to type their own notes. This would be a wonderful book to use in the classroom especially to introduce the use of computers to the class.
