About this audiobook

Culled from original presidential archival documents, All the Presidents' Bankers delivers an explosive account of the hundred-year interdependence between the White House and Wall Street that transcends a simple analysis of money driving politics-or greed driving bankers.

Nomi Prins ushers us into the intimate world of exclusive clubs, vacation spots, and Ivy League universities that binds presidents and financiers. She unravels the multi-generational blood, intermarriage, and protege relationships that have confined national influence to a privileged cluster of people.

This unprecedented history of American power illuminates how financiers have retained their authoritative position through history, swaying presidents regardless of party affiliation. It explores the alarming global repercussions of a system lacking barriers between public office and private power. Prins leaves us with an ominous choice: either we break the alliances of the power elite, or they will break us.

If you think the financial crisis of 2008 is history and we've learned our lesson, think again. Nomi Prins takes us through the 20th century and into the 21st century looking closely at how the relationship of bankers and the White House has evolved from one of mutual consideration for America's well being (while still benefitting themselves) to one of global hegemony and no concern for anything other than themselves and the bottom line. The facts evolve from the Glass-Steagall Act being passed under FDR to keep investing and commercial banking separate, to the ultimate repeal under Clinton which brought us full circle from 1929 to 2008. The book ends with a warning today that the only things changed following the 2008 crisis is bankers operate above any actual governmental or presidential oversight, and with full confidence they'll be bailed out again on the backs of Main St. while Wall St lives on. I'm not one to spend a lot of time following the dry material normally found in finance and economics talk, but Prins does an excellent job of providing a book that doesn't get bogged down in the technical, rather providing the history and relationships as they have evolved to where we are today. In my opinion, anyone intending to vote or is concerned about "freedom" should read this.
