Tigers in the Mud is worth your time.
This interesting account by Otto Carius reflects the mindset of many in his generation, refusing to believe or ignoring the horror perpetuated by the Third Reich, faulting the Americans in particular for their failures, not even reflecting on Germany's responsibility in starting the war in the first place, never mentioning the millions of Soviet POWs who died in Wehrmacht hands, not considering what his generation did to the Jews.
Hard combat does not wipe away a man's complicity, or a generation's. Carius seems to thin otherwise.
