About this audiobook

“Another deftly crafted mystery by the master of the genre…” Midwest Book Review

“Clever and entertaining, you’ll love this charming Golden Age mystery series. And the fashion is to die for!” - Molly C. Quinn, actress, Castle

It's 1923 and young war widow fashionista Ginger Gold makes a cross-Atlantic journey with her companion Haley Higgins to London England to settle her father's estate. When the ship's captain is found dead, Ginger is only too happy to lend her assistance to the handsome Chief Inspector Basil Reed.

The SS Rosa delivers a convincing array of suspects - the wife, the mistress, a jealous crew mate. To Ginger's dismay, her name has been added to the list! With a little help from Ginger's dog Boss, Ginger and Haley navigate the clues (those wartime operative skills come in handy.) They must solve the case and clear Ginger's name before they dock--and oh, whatever shall she wear!

"A fascinating introduction to a character that will rival Miss Fisher in the cozy genre set in the period between world wars."

Quite liked this one. The narrator was lovely and did some fun accents. Can’t speak to the validity of them, but they were fun! I liked Ginger, even if there were some Sister Carrie clothing descriptions going on and Hailey was awesome! And the detective wasn’t off putting which was nice. Would recommend

This story was very satisfying. It captured the social practices of the time and the differences between the British and American cultures. The moments of suspense and revelation of facts was well played.

Fun setting, on a transatlantic ocean liner and a fun period, the twenties. Ginger is a likeable heroine and Hayley an interesting sidekick. I didn’t find Inspector Reed that fascinating but the plot was quite good and the other characters entertaining. I’d happily listen to another audio book in the series. If you like the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries or the Daisy Dalrymple ones, then you’ll like this.
