She's chasing a killer. He's watching her every move.

He hides in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment. Each kill is calculated, planned and executed like clockwork.

Struggling to balance her personal and professional life, young DS Becca Vincent has landed the biggest case of her career—and she knows that it will make or break her. But she can't catch the culprit alone. Together with facial recognition expert Joe Russell, she strives to get a lead on the elusive murderer, who is always one step ahead of them.

Time is not on their side. The body count is rising, and the attacks are striking closer and closer to home. Can Becca and Joe uncover the connection between the murders before the killer strikes the last name from his list?

Very similar to a lot of serial killer books. All the same tropes, colleague romance, cop targeted etc'. Also a dismaying amount of psychological explanation of the killer which sounded Charles Martin like in its simplicity, and relationship issues which are typical of the genre in their rubbishness. The policing complexities held some ring of truth to me, a civilian.

very very enjoyable.I will be listening to more of John Marrs stories.

I just loved that I couldn’t quite figure it out. And although somewhat far fetched I adored the ending.

This was good, better than when you disappeared. Not too shocked at the outcome yet happy with the ending

Not what I expected. Had me guessing until the end,

John Marrs writes the best thrillers. Just when you think the plot gets resolved there’s an unexpected twist! Well written and well performed audio.

John Marrs is a master of the twisty-turny thriller and always creates surprises you don't see coming. This was no different! It was a police procedural / psychological thriller and kept me guessing throughout. I thought I had certain parts and characters figured out at different times, but I never did! Plus, he pulls a twist that I did NOT expect AT ALL and that I think a lot of authors wouldn't have done. It took some guts to do and it worked really well. I listened to this book and read it with the kindle/audible sync feature. I preferred the written version by far but that is my normal bias. If you like police books or TV shows, you will probably like this! Plus, it involves an interesting - and real - part of the London Met police force called the "super recognisers," which I didn't know was a thing previously and was pretty cool to learn more about.
